Are these people in the United States, who will dismiss football completely. They are so stubborn to not even watch it for five minutes, as they complain how slow and boring it is... then they go and watch baseball.

just letting out some frustration

i've been to several games, and i've tried to watch it on tv... i don't like it... but that's not the point... how can they talk about football like that and then watch baseball

Well perhaps they have seen a few World Cup games and it just isn't for them. To you baseball is boring, but to many people it is very exciting. Obviously they view soccer the same way you view baseball.

If they have never seen a game, I agree that they shouldn't judge the entire sport on stereotypes, but I don't appreciate your implication that baseball is worse because that is just as personal an opinion as the "soccer is boring" opinion.

You understand that someone in the USA could be saying the same thing about english slagging baseball then watching cricket, right? It's just a matter of taste, or being used to follow a sport, having people you like to watch and all that.

I wish someone could explain the fascination behind Baseball to me. Now dont worry, im not a retard, ive been to a few "****" baseball games over here, and ive seen it LOADS of times on Five (TV). My brother loves it so obviously i hear loads about it.

For me, i cant even watch a minute or two without being incredibly bored. I love cricket, and i used to love playing Rounders/Softball/Baseball at school, but to watch it is just unbelieveble.

Whats worse is that they seem to play countless amounts of games. I mean im not having a go cos obviously loads love it and it must be great, but i just wish someone could wave a magic wand and i could go; "WOW, WHERE HAS BASEBALL BEEN ALL MY LIFE".

I know many, many people in Britain who just dismiss football completely. I'm surprised the Americans dont get more into it because, unlike most popular sports in America, they can actually compete on an international stage against decent opposition, and we all know how much Americans like to be patriotic and get behind their country. At the moment, the team is alright and the support is alright, but I'd have though a country with a population of 250m+ and possibly the best sporting facilities in the world could produce better.

my dad always says that if the US made football their national sport, in 15years they'd be the best in the world at it.

Im hacent to agree with him.

Indeed, football is kind of boring. Most of the matches anyways. Expecially English football with their huge fields, just passing around for the whole 90.

I'll understand it if most of his posts are in the FIFA forum. That's not football, and it can end up 20-3, so it isn't boring at all.

It can change you know. I used to think the same about cycling. But than I decided once to follow the Tour de France closely and I got so carried away with it that now a year or so later I'm all into cycling.

Why do people care so much about Americans liking soccer or not? Seriously, leave it alone.

In other news, (American) football on a 60inch TV in high-definition is ORGASMIC.

pretty much agree, also, if i hear one more person say "why is american football called football" i may rape them.

The thought of watching said American Football on a 60" HDTV is definitely orgasmic. I'll have to make do with my 14" Video-combi made in 1995 for now (H)

Most of you are misunderstandind me... Or I probably didn't make myself clear. There are still people that will insist that 'soccer' isn't getting any more popular here, there are still those that won't watch any at all, and there are those who still look at people who like it, as 'gay' etc. because it's a girls sport. Now don't take that the wrong way, because it sounds like I'm insulted by it, but I'm just frustrated that people here can just close their minds to it so quickly. My aunt and cousin for example were making fun of the fact that they have national teams and are called by the countries names... I don't understand this stupidity? My uncle insists there is no real passion in soccer. Where on earth does that come from? Those are just close relatives that think that, but I know tons of other people who follow the same lines. This was not meant to be an attack on baseball, I'm just saying that there are people who think soccer doesn't exist.
