All I constantly read is stupid remarks of how boring FIFA gets. This is because most of you complaining aren't giving the game a chance. FIFA 05 is probably the best game up to date, and new features like the first touch and create-a-player make it extremely good!

Now I've read someone writing how the picture is "unclear". I bought FIFA 05 for my XBOX consol and the picture is crystal clear. The other day one of my family members stood from afar thinking it was a real match.. I'm thinking this person needs to buy a new screen.

..besides the point, the graphics vary greatly from the FIFA 05 demo and the real deal. FIFA has improved, and this year I believe it kicked PES4's butt.

If you guys get XBOX + XBOX LIVE the game experience gets so much better.

for u to say that, obviously u've never played PES/WE series...

coz if u did, u'll see that FiFA doesn't deserve a chance after it has wasted so many chances...

that's where you're wrong. I played PES3 and was dissapointed. The only thing I liked was the stadium atmosphere along with the chants, it really did make the game more enjoyable. If FIFA added that, they would be that much closer to a perfect soccer game.

But pes4 has those things too. Actually pes3 does as well but not as advanced as pes4. I gave fifa 05 a chance and its ok, but after playing pes4 i realised just how big the gap in gameplay is. I could go into detail here but i dont think theres much point.

Thats doesnt really mean anything. Someone said that to me about actua soccer 2 on the ps1 years ago. And they werent more than 6 feet from the screen

You have played pes4? Sounds like youre not giving it a chance. If you disagree, please say what exactly fifa 2005 is better at.

Well now that you ask.. the licensings for one. Yeah, you prolly heard it before.. But I don't want a player name "Klose" to be called "Kufer". It makes it so totally unrealistic. Secondly, I enjoy the graphics of FIFA better, and bodyshapes. PES seems to create bigger body shapes for their characters.

I also find the interface of FIFA a lot better. Career mode, and I like the cutscenes better.

Now so you know im not a FIFA "Fanboy", I like PES' realistic stadium-atmosphere (with the chants), and I do like the goal-nets a lot better. PES also has classic teams, which I am a big fan of. But in all, I think if FIFA added some parts (like the classic play - which they had in 1998 and 2000), I'd be a happier consumer.

Actually you do sound a bit like a fifa fan boy. Your total disregard for gameplay, and the fact that you focus on a minority of players not having their real names (despite being able to edit them) is what makes me think that. To be honest, with pes4s gameplay i wouldnt care if all the players had the same name and wore speedos. I cant really put into words just how good the pes4 gameplay is. And for any real football fan surely thats THE important thing.
The body shape..... In pes4 there is a surprisingly indepth player editor that lets you change just about everything about a players physique. The shape of their head, thickness of their arms, proportion of legs/abdomen, shoulder shape/width etc. And in fifa all the players have unrealistically big heads compared to their bodies like cartoon characters, its not that pes has bodies that are too big (compare players with photos). So i dont really understand your point there.
I ask again, have you played pes4? And do you like and play real football?

FIFA 2005 is a good game, I enjoy playin` it, it doesn`t bores me as quickly as the previous series. An improvement from FIFA 2004. But for me PES still the main football game to play, in many areas I still enjoy it much more than FIFA. PES is the only game that can make me jump out of my seat and scream and excites me, while FIFA makes me feel relax and cool doin` all the first touch stuffs and laugh watchin` some accidental bugs . . .

Oddly enough, AndrewC thinks the precise opposite, IIRC.

FIFA 2005 is an improvement, from the demo. I've played PES4 on PS2 in Virgin; it is INCREDIBLE.

trUnKez, even other pple who also owns FIFA 2005 and PES4 admits that the latter is better. But they do play FIFA. Though at the back of their mind they still know that WE/PES is better.

Yep, I do. In PES the chants are there but I get the same chant all match. When I play as Arsenal they just repeat it over and over again and it sounds nothing like a Premier League game. It gets very tiring. To me, sound is much better in FIFA than PES3. I haven't played PES4 yet so I can't judge, but from what I've read sound is still the weak point of the game.

I also don't agree with him that FIFA kicked PES4's butt. To be that much better than another game the gameplay needs to be better. FIFA's gameplay I would think still isn't as good as PES4, unless it's gone backwards from PES3, which I doubt.

I have a question for the PES4 fans and such. You play the game a lot so you could explain this to me.

What exactly makes up PES' gameplay. What is so good about it that you think it makes it so much better? And this is an honest question, I'm just curious.

ok Denis, you asked.

First off:

CONTROL: You are in total control of the players, if i want to slow an attack down and keep possesion i can, if i want to launch a quick counter attack i can. You never feel restricted in PES4, if i want to send a 50 yard ball into the flanks i can and its all about freedom and control. In fifa you never feel in control, your players are too sluggish and unresponsive, i dont mind fifa but its such a frustrting game, you cant knock 50 yard balls in to space, you cant really use real pace to outsprint someone.

TACTICS If i want a midfielder to push forward and support the front two i can do it in pes4, i can get my back four to keep a higher line. IN fifa you cant do it no matter what formation you set unless its four upfront. i cant position a man wide on the flank to hug the touchline in fifa and your backline is nearly always on the edge of the box which really pisses me off, i think the ai is lazy.

CROSSING: Every cross is a lob in fifa apart from the double tap of x which usually results in not beating the first defender. In Pes its simple, i can send it in low, mid or high, i can send it in first time and i can put it into several areas of the box.

GIMMICKS: Whats the point in using l trigger to make your man make a run when in pes, the ai of the player does it for you in a realistic way? Whats the point in first touch when pes has implented it for years with varying degress of touch depending on skill? Whats the point in off the ball control when in pes your players move off the ball, cover your fullback if they attack and mark players without being asked too.

SHOOTING: IN pes i can hit most shots. sure they dont all go in and it takes time to master but at no point do i feel the a.i has taken over, and unfortunately in fifa you do. How many times you jinked into the box to hit a shot like you do any other time but this time it leaves your foot and swerves around the keeper? It doesnt do that any other time so why then? Answer? Because its scripted and its obvious, i never feel like i scored a goal in fifa.

The point is to sum fifa up is easy in one word:

RESTRICTIVE

You dont have full control, it feels sluggish, its lazy, i wont even go into the setpiece system i mean surely you should be allowed to cross where you want.

its all about the freedom and freedom of decision making and pes has it in bucketloads.

well after alrteady played the demo and uninstalling it after a couple of games. I decided to give fifa2005 another change by downloading the full version.
Well I installed it and started to play some games.
All i can say is that the full version is also no fun for me.

:kader: first of all the attacking ai really annoys me to death. My forwards dont position well, they dont use the wing. Too often i only attack with my forwards while the rest just hangs back. And where is the option to change the player positions individually?

:kader: The defence AI just made me cry. Damn those defenders dont even catch up when you attack, they just stand in the penalty box. Resulting that each ball just over midfield is for the CPU

:kader: The corner system just work on my nerves, everytime i get an corner i feel like a little kid. As if i need assistance to take corners. Damn i aint no retard, let me decide where to pass by myself!!!!!!!!! And plus its so predictable when the keeper comes out, because he always catches or stomps the ball, nothing you can do!!

:kader: Ball fysics. When playing fifa it feels i play with a plastic ball. On pc the sound when they hit the ball is just awfull, and sometimes you dont even hear a thing when they hit it.

:kader: Player movement. Pfffff the players are like ice skaters on a field. They often slide 3-4 yard to get in a good position to receive the ball. Or sometimes they get super human speed to get in position, this often happens when giving a cross.

well this is all i want to waste on fifa, i could write more but for what reason should i do that. These points already ruin the game for me.

lol, i did the same, i downloaded fifa full version to try it, it just sucks to much.... i was fearing this so downloaded it instead of buying it....

and btw, Denis you really sound like you've been convinced by fifa's licences etc, and you really have never given any chance to PES..... btw, when you ask about gameplay let me tell you this, PES 3 gameplay is really randomized, what i mean by this is that you can score in so many ways, different situations and stuff, that i makes the game really dinamic...now, fifa 2005 still lacks the dinamic PES has, and it lacks it becuz of the restrictive controls and strange animations (they are not put well together), if then you count the horrible set pieces, the corners, the dumb mistakes fifa makers do for not watching football....

and compare fifa 2005 with PES4 (which is even better than PES3) then yeah, PES4 will become the winner, so, why don't you give PES4 a chance instead of telling us to give a chance to fifa (which i already did)

Hmmm! we all know pes3 is the definitive football game to play on pc or console and we all know that anything said against it will be frowned upon forever, the same i guess will be said in the fifa forums , after playing the xbox version of fifa 2005 against another human being i was amazed at how much the new fifa game has come of age, i for one still think pes is the far superior game..... gameplay wise that is (which is basically what a soccer game is all about) , but i think the new first touch in fifa 2005 may elevate it's stature more than normal, maybe not in this version but certainly in future versions of the fifa games(providing they keep the first touch going).:rockman: pes3 really does rule the roost

not true!! trust me i have given the fifa series a chance all of them up to date. Who doesn't want to play a soccer game with lisences?? But the gameplay screws it all up.
