xp on intel imac

I wouldn't want to inherit all of Window's problems on my Mac, bad enough I have to deal with XP on one of my computers, nevermind both :(

(of course I still have a Power PC Mac, so I couldn't do it anyway)

coming in November, really looking forward to it but how much it is going to cost :(

btw, i wonder a intel imac can have 2 OS on it. just like PC, you can install a xp / unix / linux in the hdd and select the OS on the boot screen. if imac able to do so, it would be awesome :D

hey, it still crashes less than this PC or any new Mac ive been on.

Well i can still use Clarisworks 3.0 and use the printer.

Also it has Civilisation II on it, which still manages to get me playing it every so often.

I got a grape flavoured imac. Just upgraded the ram. Going to install Mac 10 Tiger on my Mac G3. But the crappy slot-loading drive keeps eating my disc. Then I'm also getting Mac 10 Tiger patched to install on my pc.

And my puck liked mouse is screwed, so just use a regular mouse. The keyboard still fine though.

cool, yeah I've heard of people being able to upgrade their ram to 1GB on those old G3's and running Tiger really well...

I'm entertaining the thought of getting a Mac Mini to use primarily as a media centre after I upgrade my monitor. I'm undecided though because I'm not too keen on the Intel Mac's yet until more universal software is released, but then again it would be perfect for what I need it for because of the remote and the Front Row software. Btw, I wish they had revamped the PowerMac Cube instead of developing the Mini, such an awesome design (I hear they were a bitch to upgrade though)

I found a G3.... (green) ... they were throwing quite a few away and i picked one up. I'm not sure what to do with it really.

Would it serve any purpose? Should I bother installing Tiger on it?

Leopard coming out this August. Seems Apple have decided that if they were to make XP able to be installed on the Intel Based Mac Openly and if they give official support for dual boot they would definitely get more sales.

Though Mac Purists, may argue who wants Windows on their Mac. But that's another story...

But it'd definitely be cool to own a Mac and dual boot Windows and Macintosh on it. But the problem with an iMac it's not really user friendly to upgrade. Sure upgrading RAMs are easy. Harddrive too ain't that hard. But the graphics card ain't really accessible for upgrades.

And also screwed iMac ain't easy to fix...But the iMac is a luxury for me if I were to get in now. But hey, when I start School I'd be doing my design stuff on the G5s in my school. :p

Hmm My Grape G3's collecting dust too beside my main pc. I would have used it more often if my slot loading drive doesn't eat my CDs...Well you could use the G3 has a music server. Or you can play some mp3s on the G3 while playing some game on your main rig. Or giving it to your mum and put it in the kitchen. She can make it into a kitchen PC. With a Recipes there and even listen to Mp3s. Since the G3 is ideal to be put in a place like the kitchen since it's just the G3 and the keyboard and mouse. Not much wires.

Or you can check out some sites. They'd give some tips on wat to do with your G3s. Like making it a home entertainment system. Or even making your G3 being able to control the some electronic stuff in your house. Alternatively you can make your G3 as a server. Or just keep it. 30 years down the road it's bound to be labelled a real classic.

hmm, you might have trouble running Tiger on a G3 unless you have at least 512 ram on it, preferably 1 GB. I'm sure you could do it, it just might be kind slow. Might be worth a shot though.. I'm sure you could get away with installing Jaguar though, which is basically the same as Tiger minus some updates and minor features.

They're great little computers though, or at least they used to be. It would still be perfectly fine for basic computer use like internet, word processing, mp3's, etc

Nope shinji, I installed Tiger on my G3 with 320mb of ram. You just need 256mb of ram to run it. It doesn't feel that sluggish for regular stuff at all.
