That's awesome info Vazza! Thanks.

How's the updating of hard drive, how much does it cost to go, say 40 GB higher?

On a side note, last night I decided to buy PixelJunk Monsters for $10 off the playstation network, and now I can't believe I'm addicted to this stupid little game!

PS3 owners, can you tell me a bit in detail about the PSN aka online play for the PS3? I know the Xbox Live is an excellent online play system (I spent Saturday night at a friend's playing NHL 08 online for 6 hours :p ), how does the PSN compare? I figure that it's probably a bit worse since it's free. But does it have the potential to become better in the future?

I can't really compare with XBL since I've never used it, but as far as the PSN's online play goes, I have no complaints. Although tbh, I've only played Resistance online, but I can say it was flawless. No lag or anthing..

I did have problems with the Lost Planet online demo (had to try like 20 times before I could join a game) but they since took it down and put a fixed version back up. It's all good now.

I'm looking to upgrade my tv, and I'm just wondering what kind of HDTV's you guys have or recommend? Right now I'm using an older 37" Sharp LCD (not an Aquous), it's 720p which is fine, but the response time is 12 which isn't the greatest for fast action at all.

Looking at a couple of the 40" Sony Bravia's right now, specifically these two:

What about sports games, like FIFA? Have you tried those?

Thanks.

I mainly bought a PS3 for Pro Evo and GTA, and since Pro evo 2008 was rubbish I havn't been using it for gaming that much. I mainly use it now to play movies and music from my media server, watching films and stuff on my TV without having to connect the computer to the tv, all wireless...it's good stuff, though I think you can do that with the xbox as well.

Once konami get their act together and release a good next-gen footy game and once GTAIV gets released, I'll be using it for gaming a lot more. I think in the long run you'll benefit from getting the PS3...

You can't go wrong with either, I'm 100% happy with my 360. I prefer its exclusives over sonys (halo, gears of war, ninja gaiden, mass effect, etc) so i went with it.

Shinji, i'd go with a aquos or samsung over the sony. They are all tops in quality, but theres a good price difference between the two and sony

I think unless you plan to use the TV only for gaming (and that would be some heavy hardcore gaming), you might consider getting a plasma unit. Pioneer and Panasonic have some great models. And if you’re looking for less than 50”, I bet you can find a good 42”-768p.

Also you’d want to play the games with lights off, because that makes a huge difference.

I was looking at a Panasonic plasma, but I dunno man, I still have the whole fear of burn-in in my mind even though I know it's generally a thing of the past. I keep reading about how you still have to be careful during the break-in period and limit your gaming time, and watch out for letterboxing, channel logos, etc, etc..

I'd probably always be looking out for stuff like that, to the point where I wouldn't enjoy it much.

Yeah, it’s (almost) impossible to find someone who got burn-in problems in units recently bought. And that’s on the internet, where we’re most likely to find complaints about almost any product, even more when it’s an electronic.

There’s a free break-in disc that supposedly speeds the process up, I admittedly have used it... But the regular consumers usually don’t take such steps and they’re fine with it.

Of course I do know what you mean. If those things will always be in your mind then there’s no other choice than going with LCD.

... Although I’m sure any worry would be gone after a month with the Panny. :amika:

Be aware...PS3 consoles (North America) will sell like hot cakes on the upcoming MGS4 bundles !!

Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots PS3 Bundle
To coincide with the much-anticipated North American launch of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots in late Q2 2008, SCEA will introduce a PS3 bundle, which will include an 80GB PS3, the upcoming blockbuster Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots, and a DUALSHOCK 3 wireless controller for $499.99 (MSRP).
As has been announced previously, MGS4 will include a Metal Gear Online “Starter Pack.” If you can’t wait to try out MGS4, the good news is you don’t have to much longer. Those who pre-order the game will be guaranteed access to a multiplayer beta test for Metal Gear Online scheduled for late April.

Hmm, that could be a good deal. The PS3 80GB itself costs 500 bucks right? And the controller around 60 bucks? Where could we order that from, maybe i'll get it?
