Xbox Problems

Ok, i got fifa 2004 on xbox about a month ago, and not long after i started playing it, the "your disc is damaged or dirty" message kept comming up at random points during the game.

So i checked the disc, no scratches, nothing. so i took it back to the store i bought it from and got them to change the disc.

But it still kept happening. during games. loading menu screens. everywhere.

I just wanted to know if anyone else was experiencing these problems.

also in the short time i actually get to play the game i noticed that some of the cup matches came up as league games and vice versa, during career mode.

some other problems are the lack of the argintine league (the most passionate league in the world)
the Dutch national team!!! (they got the league in there, come on!)
career or trading with brazilian or rest of world teams. (in career mode)
but thats another story.....

i thought that it could be a bad version of the game....or it could be a microsoft-moment
(where u pay for a sevice and get crapppy products.)
just wanting to know if any of these happen to everyone or just poor old me.

please, any comments

Bad Drive

Hi,

your problem is the DVD drive in your XBOX. I am guessing that you bought your XBOX close to the time that the console was released. Those consoles have optical drives in them that are known to fail. Microsoft was very slow in addressing this issue and fell victim to class action lawsuits. If you were to call Microsoft (and the above scenario fits your situation) you may be surprised to find that your console is still under warrenty) They will probably tell you to blow off any saved games on your hard drive and see if that helps. Anyway - if they give you a hard time push them nicely about the bad drive issue and they may still fix your XBOX for free. Otherwise it will cost you $100.00 to get it fixed.

I have had the same problem with mine, but it seems to go in phases. When 2003 came out it it happened to me all the time. I went close to a year without a problem then it happend once since 2004 came out. I cannot send mine in and have it fixed for free since my box is modded.

it has happened 2 me aswel and many of my frends. i tink its a fault with the discs ea have made

I got my consol a bit later... (only last January) ... my game works fine...

Get Microsoft to send you a new consol... plus some other stuff to make up for all the saved games you had that will be lost...

mmm, I don't think the problem lies on the game so you may want to call the xbox support line or something like that and ask for a repair or a new xbox

it is a problem with all fifa games on xbox

mainly at the start of a game, but seems to happend in phases

the other day it happened about 10 times, and in the next couple weeks not at all

i reckon just ignore it as it is on and off, but make sure you save stuff

look guys who in this thread are complaining about the game crashing, the game works fine, its your faulty drive problems that cause it to crash. i got the xbox first day it came out. most my games crash (faulty drive was what i was told). lucky i had bought another xbox (transparent version) and it works fine with all my games.

yea, same xbox disc dirty or damaged errors. it sucks we paid 300$ and the ones selling for 150$ or whatever work

ok, part 2: does this happen to anyone with any other game they have? or does it only happen with fifa04??
it only happens to me when trying to play fifa. i have Star Wars KoToR, resturn to castle wolfenstien, nfl2k3, nba2k3, all these work fine. this leads me to believe that it might be a bad batch of fifa or something?

this could be stating the obvious but have you tried using a good quality lens cleaning disc??

yes, i have tried a lens cleaner and a disc cleaner.

Here is another tip for those of you having problems with your drive. I have turned off the commentary in fifa so as yhe software does not need to access the disc as often. Give this a try.

When I had World Cup 2002 you could not get the game starte without seeing that message about 10 times.

thank god, that as Fifa 2003 and 2004 came out this rarely happens... so it just got better as time went on and i started to make sure i put the game in its case right away after use.

yeah, i take care of all digital media that i own (cds, dvds, vcds ect...) but the no commentary trick worked for me. it stopped happening and i was able to play the game properly......which is why i dont play it anymore. i found out that this game is pretty bad. i also found that fifa2002 is more fun to play anyway.

i got FIFA2004 the first day it came out since i got it for free with my XBOX bundle(preorder). I have not had any problems with the XBOX or the game, so it isnt a bad "batch" i dont see why everyone wants to blame EA for everything.

The game has crashed once or twice, but only after playing the XBOX for 4 or 5 hours(the xbox gets too hot, like a computer does sometimes).


I guess its just the XBOXs you guys got, microsoft may have mad some bad ones, like someone said above, it could be the store you guys got it from. I got my bundle from Gamestop.com
