Don't be a dickhead people altho we had referee problem we still had little bit of skills too..and also to answer the thread I think its because of our coach Koala... i mean Coelho....His using some system that doesn't suit with Korean football style...and also we are becoming arrogant like Yoo Sang Chul said....I think after the draw with Maldive we better pull our socks up!!!

With that performance i reckon the Aussies would of beat you guys 3-0.
I reckon they need to do more than pull up socks.

To be honest yes with the performance against Maldive we will definetly lose to Aust...but if we play like we did to Oman or even when we vsed Turkey in WC 2002 Aussies have no chance :mrpimp:

Um South Korea is probably never goignt o be in another World Cup. The matches were fixed, Portugal, Italy, and Spain were all screwed. Even the United States and Poland felt a little of the referee fixing. I'm happy that they are doing bad as Spain had the team to finally win a World Cup and didnt. Nadal, Luis Enrique, and Hierro all retired without a WC win and when they almost do it they get screwed. people in Spain r still pissed. Theyre even more pissed that FIFA did really nothing about it. Only cuz the Korean president was a high up of FIFA :f***:

It was actually got for Blatter that Korea was doing well, more money for him and FIFA, when a host nationa does well.

maraujo1: Korea will make it to at least one of the next two World Cups, simply because Asia has 4.5 WC spots. That's a joke imo, Asia only has 5 decent teams (China, Japan, South Korea, Iran and maybe Saudi Arabia) the rest are nothing. So it is almost guaranteed that they will be in the WC, if they won't then they just totally suck. Like they wouldn't even have a chance in the easiest play-off in europe spot. Asia should have max of 3 spots and no more, but 4.5:rolleyes: , North America with teams like US and Mexico have 0 guaranteed spots, how is this far?

So yeah Korea will be in WC.

i like how none of you bring up portugal vs s.korea..remember portugal?..the highest rated team coming into the worldcup 2002 from europe?....how they were beat fair and square and completely out hustled....none of you mention it because that game showed s.korea wasnt a flash in the pan..no bad calls no cheating....yes the italy and spain match had some bad calls...but dont many games?..how about man utd vs porto in the CL few weeks ago?...was that not a huge stage with millions at stake and national pride involved as well?...the disallowed goal from paul scholes was a huge factor but we accepted the bad call and moved on right?..shall we accuse porto of bribing the ref's?..no because it was simply a bad call by the ref..although it sucks life goes on..all pro sports have bad calls...and yes..hometown advantage is always a factor too..and korea DID receive many calls their way...and did n.korea bribe the officials in their game vs italy decades ago?..(remember n.korea has about 1$ to its name)...also try to remember korea is and was in a horrible economic state before during and after the worldcup.(part of the reason the wc was co-hosted by japan).we couldnt afford to bribe a little league soccer match nonetheless a worldcup match..and even if fifa "fixed" the italy and spain matches to boost soccer in korea it would have little benefit as korea is divided in half and the remaining democratic half wouldnt be able to help fifa's pocket books even if every single citizen went to a soccer match or bought fifa mdse as the country is tiny...and broke...(although korea's economy is slowly coming back)...despite s.korea's problems they have managed to be asia's best team overall ...and they DID receive some calls their way as did other teams....but with a inspirational coach...great fitness(korea's fitness was widely reckognized as the best in the 2002wc)a never give up attitude... the adoring hometown fans....and yes a few lucky breaks...made it farther than any asian team in history....but after Hiddink left... s.korea has been in shambles...if i were spanish or italian i would have been angry as hell too over those calls....but to stoop to such classless levels as they did was not necessary..but i do understand italy and spain fans are more passionate than your average man about their football so i do salute their undying love for their teams and country....just my 2 cents :kader:

We all share the same passion for our countries and the better S. Korea was doing, the more money Sepp was getting. And there is no need to bring the topic or thread up again.

I think it wasnt the skill who brought korea so far in the world cup, it was the refs, they were so ****ty, but yet again, i can always be wrong cuz i dont follow much of korean soccer.

Korea is, and will continue to be, one of the top three soccer playing nations in Asia. Also, remember that the Maldives team that tied them is not the same team that lost 17-0 to Iran (Iran is, incidentally, also in the top three, along with Japan). Maldives have considerably improved, including recently winning the SAFF cup, defeating Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Bhutan, Nepal and India. They have a solid midfield, and they're quite fast.

Besides, the 1950 U.S. team (Arguably the worst squad we've ever sent to the Cup) defeated England, and even Man U loses the occasional game. So anything is possible.

When did Iran beat Maldives 17-0? Still Korea shouldn't be osing to no damn Maldives. Specially with the type of players I saw in the WC 2002.

Has anyone considered that maybe the team they sent to play against the Maldives might not have been their A squad?

I still think they should of mop the floor with them. Most korean players play in the K-league anyway where do Maldives players play?

Iran? Sorry but that's overexaggerating. Where did you leave out China? Top 3 in Asia are S. Korea, Japan and China and Iran maybe 4th or 5th. Iran has a **** team.

I've only just read this thread, but I'm suprised that there has been so much said about something that happened two years ago and so little about something that happened now. To draw with South Korea is a huge result for the Maldives, the population of the Maldive Islands is puny and it wasn't so long ago they were taking huge beatings from the likes of Iran and were propping up the FIFA World Rankings so a rather late well done from myself to the Maldives :rockman:

OK, the point is that Iran is a good team, they've been to the World Cup. Yeah, China/Saudis are probably better or at least competitive. Sorry.
