This is a simple program that edits fifawc.exe to change the fixed groupings. This is done by changing the byte position of team codes in the executable file. Future versions will take into account seedings, this beta version simply randomizes all teams. Don't complain if you have to play in a group with Brazil, Germany, South Korea and Turkey (well, the top four )

Currently, this is a beta release, so anyone interested in trying it out can download it at http://members.evolt.org/desflynn/thinlizzy/wcrandomizer.exe

i've tried it with the original exe and the fairlight no-cd, the idea is randomizer runs and then exits straight away. next time u run fifa there's different groupings. is that it jan_sgz? did it work for u syker?

nope, it does not work, BUT, when it's not in the correct directory (say in the desktop) it says it did not find fifawc.exe so it runs I guess...

No, it is impossible. And even if it was possible, it is SO HARD and long, that nobody will do that. And why don't you want replacements? I don't think, that if you make Saudi Arabia out, your game will be bad And, for example, playing fpr non-qualified team in WC means replacement of the teams who qualified.

beacuse I prefer not to delete teams

thats why in my patch I replaced israel with colombia, but I didn't delete them Just that colombia will play the cup instead of israel in group c with barzil, costa rica and china (bye bye tunisia)

beyond beta?

byegregory, are you doing any more work on this? I love the concept, but I can't get it to work either. I'm using fifawc.exe build 103.

At first, nothing seemed to happen at all, but then I edited the exec.bat file to use the correct path names. After that, I saw some screens flash by (the hex editor, I assume?), but now fifawc crashes shortly after the splash screen. Any ideas?

Also, I'm assuming there's something in the randomize executable that randomizes from the teams.txt file? I guess my question is, does this randomize every time you run it, or is it a one-time switch of the groupings?

yeah, i have an idea what's up ;(

my fifa is installed in cgames\wc2002\. notice no spaces. must experiment more with this

soccernut - i'll have another go at it, see if i can get it working for everyone... the reason your fifa crashes is because somewhere along the line the process went wrong, unfortunately. The program reads the teams from teams.txt and randomizes them, and writes the commands into the script file which is passed to the hex editor in the batch file. the screens that flash up are then the hex editor I did it this way because when i tried byte patching from vb, it kept screwing up somehow. i'll try it again, and post the source code if anyone else can fix it...

thnx, I thought it might have to do with a long path name (with spaces). I appreciate your effort, you're still the only one that I know of to attempt a randomizer. Kudos!

Ok, fixed major error no. 1

like i mentioned above, my wc was installed in cgames\wc2002\, which didn't have spaces, so i overlooked the fact that users with the default install directory would have "program files" etc, so the batch file wouldn't work. To fix this i added quotes around all path names in the batch file.

It should work properly now. I hope.

So, please give it a go and try it out, backup your fifawc.exe first, and tell me how it went

you're right, it works when you use it without spaces...
so, I put it on the Desktop, then change the lines on the .bat file to point to the Desktop and everything works fine, the hex editor did its job, then I could play on a group with Mexico, Germany, Paraguay and Ireland

so the problem are the spaces man
