Winning in semi-pro mode

HI I play PC FIFA 2005.

I find that it's very hard to win #1 spot the league (even if it's Dutch league) in semi-pro mode. I have a team (3-4-3 formation ,consist of well-known good players in midfield and forward, but some unknown players in defence). I usually win games from set pieces (header from corner kick).
I found it difficult to get past defenders. I find "dribbling to the side" are effective sometimes, but other than that i don't know any other better individual moves.

What would be your advice to improve my game ? (other than signing getting famous players )

Thx !:)

I recommend 4-1-2-1-2!

Letting the offensive midfielder play your forward's with a through ball makes it almost too easy (6)

But it's importent not to play it up to the forwards too early!

Thats my favourite formation. The CAM can be effective if used properly. The through balls have to be played at the right time. I like to play pacy players in the hole like Vincente or Joaquin because they draw attention to themselves and at the right moment put the forward on a run and slip a thru ball to him. When the chips are down are revert to 3-4-3.

In semi-pro, you should be able to keep possession, and just work the ball around until you find an opening.

well i always use 4-4-2 against any difficulty. 1 way as stated above is like if u make a break with the midfielder just keep jogging up until one ov the fullbacks marking ur forwards come to takle you the simply pass a through ball the the un marked forward its as easy as that. Another way is just to run down the line then cross it through, if u dont know how hard to cross it go as close to the side line of the field as possible then chip with full power it should come to the far post and you can simply head it in. ;) good luck

ive always liked the 4-2-3-1 formation. Since you find it easy scoring from headers this would be an ideal formation for you. play some speedy wingers like joaquin or c.ronaldo and let the send in some crosses.

Well, certainly you don't need world class players to score. In fact, even in the most difficult level, a 60 ability striker can score header goals as efficiently as a 98 ability striker, if you play it right (no kidding!).

I do think 343 is not the best formation to start with. Try either 4-1-2-1-2 or 4-5-1. Practise on your crossing+header goals or through ball goals. 41212 is great for through balls with the CAM feeding the front 2, and it's very handy when it comes for defending. 451 is great for keeping possession. I used it a lot when I start playing the game.

I seldom HAVE to use dribbling to score except for fun. So don't worry about the dribbling skill cause they are not a MUST to score!!

i play 3-5-2 and usually i run down the wings, through ball it to my strikers, when the strikers ge tthe ball, do another through ball back to the winger, usually i would have two defenders going after the striker making the winger open to do a cross, which i usually nail.

When the chips are down, i just through ball like a mother ******* trying to find the open striker

It's really easy at Semi-Pro. Hold the ball, and you'll score at least 5 goals every match. Possession is EVERYTHING at this level. As for formations...

ST ST
CAM
LCM CM RCM
LB LCB RCB RB

...if you think your're improving try only 3 CB's.

LWM LCM CAM RCM RWM
LCB CB RCB
