Winning Eleven 9 Announced
Latest entry to hit Japan in just a couple of months, complete with Online play.
by Anoop Gantayat

June 8, 2005 - First details on Winning Eleven 9, the next entry in Konami's world-beating soccer series, have surfaced in Japan. The game is scheduled for Japanese release on August 4, carrying a price tag of 7,329 yen.

Konami will be once again using Zico, the popular coach of the Japanese national team, as the spokesperson for the game, but he won't be alone this time. Joining him will be Serie A midfielder Junsuke Nakamura. This is the first time Konami has made use of two spokespersons for its premier sports title.

As expected, we can look forward to a number of improvements for the new year. Two new positions, Wing Back and Second Top have been added to the game. You can also look forward to improved character animation, with basic motions having been recaptured. The game also adds play in snowy conditions, with the players' breath being visible in the cold.

All your favorite modes seem to be back, including an improved Master League with more precise control over player growth. New to the game is the "Nippon Challenge Go for 2006" mode in which players lead the Japanese national team towards qualification for the coming World Cup. This mode will have additional gameplay options not found in the other modes of play.

Those who got a taste for Online play with the Japan-only Winning Eleven 8: Live Ware Evolution will be pleased to learn that Online play is a standard feature in Winning Eleven 9. Konami has refined its network engine to allow for better play and added functionality. You'll now be able to use Master League teams in competition.

While Live Ware Evolution never saw stateside release, we think Winning Eleven 9 will have a different fate, at last giving gamers outside of Japan a chance at Online Winning Eleven.

I don't know if this is the place for this, so if not I'll delete it.

I just wish the new PES5/WE9 had a career mode with a little more realism. I like Master League a lot, but for some reason, playing against teams from other countries in the league just doesn't have the same intensity.
That's what international cups are for.
Only complaint though, as WE8 is awesome and the gameplay is great.
But I wish there was a more realistic career mode. I am a convert from that other football game......and there is no turning back now. I just would like to take Barca through La Liga and the the Champions League (Or the WEFA;)) or whatever name it has.....
I'd like to play the derbies against Madrid and Espanyol. I think it would be cool because the game is so awesome, if it had that feature of realism. As it is, I play Master League and I'm happy.

WE9 Sounds very cool, can't wait :rockman:

"You can also look forward to improved character animation" this means it will need a MAINFRAME computer to work on it .

Don't copy and paste. Just post links. If you know something we don't know, post it.

"...players' breath being visible in the cold"

This sounds dangerously like FIFA territory. I just hope they don't get too caught up in these small details and try to focus more on the gameplay. This clearly won't be a next-gen release then. We'll have to wait for WE10 for that now I guess.

What I want to know is if they will license more leagues this season. That would be spectacular.

Forza Suarez! (ps brotha can you spare a dime?)
If there are any new licensed leagues, the Bundesliga seems most likely

hmm i believe that in PES5 they have and they will stick to details like the breath. Because PS2 has reached it's limits with PES. So till PS3 just stick with the breathing :D (i just hope it won't smell bad :p)

It would be so great if PES5 would have licences from Bundesliga and Premier League. I hope to see UEFA instead of WEFA but that can wait in my case (6)
In PES4 I was a bit confused because I saw Nike kits, but didn't see Nike balls or boots. So I'm waiting for this too :junior:

It's possible that these new features in WE9 could/will be in the upcoming PES5?

@Seven, The only reason you saw Nike kits for the Licensed teams from the Serie A, Liga 1, Eriedivisie, and the South Korean National Team were not because of the nike license, but because the license of the leagues and teams I mentioned let Konami have the Nike tick on the respective teams kits.
