I don't know if this guy is a true PES gamer.........but the same happens with every new version of PES.At first we get reviews saying <<This is the best>> and generally the comments of the Overall valuation.Later after some months we find so many bugs that we start complaining. And then we praise every new version of it (untill we start complaining again for it after some months). And seriously what about all known problems of PES series, like the super cancel thing you have to do when chasing a ball. What about all these complains of the previous versions which might still exist and in this new version?Do i have to be happy that Konami gave us after a whole year a patched version of PES4??This strategy reminds me of EA to be honest.

As i said from the videos it seems like an upgrade of PES4 and the movement reminds me of PES4 and it's not the difference we saw between PES3 and PES4 or any other newest version of PES compared to the previous one.I'm pretty sure after a while we'll find spots from where to score goals (anyone remember the long shots of PES4??Oh no?Check the best gif goals then. What happened to the non-linear scoring??Ohhhhhh i see,the reviewers didn't have so much time).I don't have high expectations from PES5 to be honest though and that's why i'll give Fifa a try.Now i don't say that Fifa is better, damn the only Fifa i liked is Fifa98 but what the f*ck??If i don't like both Fifa's new version or PES5 i'll surely stick to PES3 as someone ironically said.........but keep in mind that these guys praising PES5 may start first complaining about it

Konami has lost it's way.Now i don't care for fanboys claiming every new version as the best.I want to play a hard simulation soccer game. And PES4 isn't and it's not it's difficulty.Even when i win i don't have the satisfaction of PES3,i can save a match and show you all these "bugs" but most of us know them. And from the videos PES5 seems like PES4 sadly. So i guess i'll find out when the PC version is released, but i'm not holding my breath as i was with PES3 and this is a sad thing for Konami.I hope to be proved wrong though,it will be a nice suprise this........but we'll see :)

hey there, believe me its different from we8/pes4 videos tell lies ;)
my fren who i played we9 with in his house even remarked: "i believe they changed the game engine" and hes been playin pes ever since he got his ps2 which is like 4 yrs ago.

now for my impressions on why its soooo goooddd and way diff from pes4/we8

1. reworked passing, shooting heading and keeper animations: its so muchhh better and realistic, in pes4 u often see players make passes more with their outside foot and their toes :D but in we9 they DO use their Sidefoot ALOT more, much more realistic. and the passing is not as accurate as b4, it really depends a lot on ur positioning, the angle u r making the pass and of course the player's passing stats!! to me excellent players really stand out, and u can see awfull players really making awful passes :D Thats depth in passing!
juz like in real life :)

2. The game's pace is muchhh slower, no more the famous "pinball" effect in pes4, though i heard we series is slower but i definitely like it and one impt thing: YOU CAN up the tempo if u want, the game allows for quick breakaways as well as slow build up play, my m8 and i scored a couple from quick counter attacks. plus the formation affects ur play more and more, my m8 in his office actually thought of the ideal formation to utilise rooney and co :D we tried it, had a torrid time against chelsea and her wingers :jambo:

3. The nature of the game engine and gameplay means your tactics play a more impt role, putting the rite players in the rite positions to maximise their abilities and exploitng the opp's weakness, Even the AI does that! they stroke arnd the ball in midfield, making it hard to get it off them then suddenly a killer thru ball comes, they found a weakness :(
i love this part cos it gives u much more satisfaction when u score or the disbelief when u concede 1 ;)

4. as for the sidesteps done with R2 in pes4 now automatic, its not so bad, in fact its very useful when u noe how to use it! :P and i think its not exactly default, i'm still able to turn normally, though much harder which again lets the outstandiing like kaka and ronaldinho stand out from the rest.

overall its a BIG improvement from pes4, i juz love it, as some1 above has mentioned the feeling, emotions, guts and sheer ecstasy from playing it outweighs any other game. It almost feels like u are watching a end to end soccer match and the occasional dull boring matches!
and i did download fifa06 demo, felt like pes4 but slower and better AI, tog with poorer ball physics, plus it doesn't offer the lvl of depth the we/pes series offered.

I couldn't agree more. After watching couple of videos, i have to admit that WE9 looks so much like PES4 that it scares me. I don't like PES4 at all, the gameplay is awful. Stupid goalkeepers, shots, ball bouncing, outside of foot passes and the worst...super fast game speed. It didn't feel realistic and it wasn't because didn't try to get to used to it. I played severel games but just didn't get the feeling. So i changed back to WE7I and it felt soooo good...

Unfortunately the super fast game speed seems to be in WE9 too. I think i could live with all the other mentioned but not with the speed, it's just way way way too fast. It's not football, it's pinball. So i'm afraid that i'm still gonna have stick with the WE7I. To be honest i'm really getting tired of the lack of teams and leagues, but as much as i would like to have them along with online-game and updated transfers, the gameplay is what really matters afterall. I'm praying that i'm wrong and the game is better than what the video shows, but i'm not expecting too much...

did u even bother to read the reviews??
IT ISN'T FAST!! sigh....read my review at the prev page....
funny thing is i nvr judge games by their video releases, somehow it has nvr proved accurate to me. I rely on user and certain gamesites reviews more than anything else.
and abt too many fouls, pes4/we8 had its fair share of fouls, we9 has more but i feel its great, gives u much more satisfaction when u execute that wonderul tackle, it now place more emphasis on timing of tackles, not juz keep pressing X to get the ball. It adds a new tactical dimension to it so don't juz go all over the field and press Circle or X. It juz reflects real life, you don't see Viera going all over the field hacking players down without getting penalized.
It reflects the increasing strictness of refrees which is good.

Yes, i've read yours and many other reviews as well. But i think it's better to judge games based on videos than someone elses reviews, don't you think? Since i'm a PC-user, i haven't been able to try it myself so i can only rely on videos. Even though many people are telling it's not fast, after watching couple of videos i must say it sure does look like it. These are my very first impressions and isn't it what this thread is for...to tell how we feel about the new game. Of course i'm gonna try out the upcoming PES5 and hope that you're right and i'm wrong.

i certainly hope so :) if u managed to get the ps2 magazine that reviewed pes5, which i read parts of it from evo-web, it has also said the speed is slower. And abt videos, well each to their own opinions :) to me, sometimes videos could be based on older engines unless its a gameplay video straight from someone's ps2 ;) and having played pes4 so often, we9 certainly is slow! when i went back to pes4 the other day, i quite after a few matches, i realized how fast pes4 was :P
even fifa06 demo with the mod was slower than pes4.
anw i'm looking fwd to ano solid we9 session at my buddy's place, he owns a ps2, i don't :( so i got to wait for pes5 pc to come out which i hope the developers don't speed up, cos i heard pes versions are usually a tad faster than we versions.

From the videos i see and having played winning eleven 9, you will probably find that the videos seem faster due to having less frames than the actual game. If i record through my tv card, the videos always come out looking faster than when i was playing it, so don't worry to much from the videos you have seen, it is a lot slower and a good pace.

ah maybe thats why i don't see videos as a good judgement of the game. Tks for clearing that up and i do hpe konami hurry up with the pes5 demo, i'm getting impatient :P
