~Winning Eleven 9 First Impressions~

I've been playing for 3 days now. Currently playing the Nippon Challenge. The mode is awesome let me tell you. I've qualified to the second round in Asia and.. simply cannot wait to play more. This is the first time in a while that the CPU is giving a really HARD time. The technically weaker teams are giving me a hell of a challenge on 5*. I lost the last game 1:2 to Kuwait. Also lost two friendly games on 2* in between but don''t anyone. 
I'm loving the passing system and the animation. They're just so perfect. The game is so fluid, sometimes I just space out starring at the anims. 
I got my Socom 3 Beta today. Played it for a while and couldn't stop thinking about Winning Eleven. I'll play it more tonight for sure.

I have played a game now and some training.
The shoots are better and harder, the dribbling aren't that accurate, the passes are bad, the japanese commentarys say the name on the scorer after a goal and thats nice. Graphic is the same. The strikers, strong ones like Ronaldo doesn't seem to have as easy to win a duel witha defender anymore. In PES4 and WE8 he could like push the defenders but now it's the opposite.
Volleys are MUCH easier to score on.
Overall I think PES4 is better than this. Allthough it may be cause I only played for 30 minutes. It feels more real tho. More like a real game. The movements are lighter but I felt they are harder to control. I use supercancel so much in PES4 but it's not working the same in WE9 so I dunno... Will PES5 be better than WE9?

WE9 is the worst game in the series. In recent times, the progress in the gameplay has been dubious. The don't so much improve it as change it, and this usually just means more cpu cheats to make it harder.
But with WE9, they have gone too far and it kills the gameplay stone dead. The saddos who spend 5 hours every day playing the game (the ones who Seabass tries to appease by making more and more cheats to make it harder) will be saying it's still too easy, and of course, we will all be so impressed with them
. But if you just want to sit down for an hour or two every now and then and have some footy fun, WE9 fails to deliver.
This game is anything but fun. It's irritating, frustrating, enraging, contrived, scripted and just a complete waste of time to play. I won't even bother going into detail about what is wrong with it because virtually nothing is right any more.
This used to be a great series, but I no longer enjoy it. The gameplay is fundamentally rotten and each year, they just add more vomit.

I remember when going from Fifa2003 to PES3. I hated it. The players felt so heavy and like they are running on ice and stuff but when I adapted and learned to control them it was amazing. I can almost guarantee that aqua didn`t even play the game.. he didn`t say anything about the game at all..only the bad stuff... please STFU and don`t say another word. Go to any other forum PESInsight, Evo-Web and read the reviews/impressions from the guys that know what they`re talking about.
Chammas - there is difference btw. PES and WE.. PES games always have faster gameplay the ball always feels too light.. and this equals unrealistic gameplay. WE = Slower gameplay, heavier ball = better than PES.

Well, not everything. I have two remarks. First, the advantage rule was missed again. It sucks just like it did before because you can't do anything with it since it's implemented in such a way that it almost never appears when you really could use it.
Also, I think the referee is sometimes too harsh, and some of the fouls are ridiculous since there's barely any contact at all.
I love everything else about it, especially how the ref gets in the way. I performed an elastico on the ref today! lol
But I have played it for like, five hours so I can't give a full review. I have to play some more.

P.S. Do you guys think that the move you make when you press L1 and triangle at the same time is always too strong? In PES4, I used to perform it while 30 metres away from the goal, but now I have to do it in the half of the field because the player always kicks the ball too hard and it ends up in the keeper's arms.

For the time being, I have lost faith in the series. I really don't like playing it any more. I really want a good football game, but there aren't any. Earlier PES/WE games filled the void to a certain extent, so I will still await with interest to see how they fair on the next-gen consoles. But for now, I will take a sabbatical from this game.

Yes it's true that the ball is heavier. A bit diff in gameplay but I meant a DIFFERENCE. It is just the same. Pretend it's another ball. In PES you play with the WC98 balll wich was light as a feather and in We you play with the WC2002 balldiggi 10 said:

If you want a game that you can just pick up any time you want, is easy to learn and fun to play for a short period of time then what you really want is FIFA.
If you're looking for indepth gameplay, a game that takes time and a bit of dedication to master then you'll want PES.
It's as simple as that.

I think WE9 is great.
To give some reasons, the motion is far more better.
So its really fun to pass the ball around and looks more real.
The ball physics are improving. The balance is much more better.
Before WE9, I was playing WE8. I didn`t buy WE8LE because
it really s*cked. If you get rid of the online mode,
WE8LE was the worstest in the Winning Eleven series.
I tryed it out in a game store, and I really was dissapointed.
So stuck with WE8.
And I`m happy with WE9.
But I agree with you about the CPU cheeting.
I don`t see it much in the "Match mode", but it gets
really ugly in the Master League mode....
And thats frustrating. People in Japan call it "Konami Effect".
