Did you know that the total weight of all bugs is greater than all human and animal combined? So with this we now know there are alot of Bugs, and im sure a few crept into FIFA07! :brow:

What's going on actually???
This bug has been there for the past two versions of the game (FIFA 2005 and FIFA 06) and for some inexplicable reason EA have never seen fit to fix it. It is caused by the way the game schedules matches, and you may also see the same thing happening for CPU controlled teams. It is quite possible when playing in the EPL to get three games in two days if you make it to the League Cup final, and the problem also crops up in some of the other European leagues. I've never seen anyone claim to have fixed this (although it ought to be possible by changing a couple of values in the FIFA.DB file) so you just have to live with it (or move to a team in a league with a less crowded schedule)

How come there are so many bugs???
Simple answer, with my programmer's hat on, is that software always has bugs. It is impossible to prove that all the code in a program is faultless (and believe me, people have tried) and even more so in a program as complicated as a computer game.

The longer answer is that EA's annual release schedule means that they have to decide where to devote their resources, and just what folk will put up with. There are bugs, or poorly implemented features, that have existed for many iterations of the game (one example that gets my goat is the game's inability to save a meaningful highlights package to display after each game, especially when playing on the PC where memory limitations should be irrelevant, but I'm sure that there are many others who couldn't care less about it, and therein lies the rub) and I'm quite certain that EA's programming team know they are there, they have just never come to the top of the list of things to be sorted out in amongst all the other work that has to be done to produce each new version.

So are there any utilitites to edit the fixtures myself???

Yes, I created the Coppa Italia following the real life rules (including the C divisions) myself in Fifa06 with Rinaldo's tournament master 06, it's not released for Fifa07 yet, but it should be in a month or two.

As the previous respondent stated there was a utility for FIFA 06 to change some of the related data - Tournament Master 06 - and I would expect the equivalent functions to be available as part of Creation Master 07, which is currently undergoing a closed beta and for which Rinaldo has already announced a public beta.

However, that utility does not allow you to change the fixtures themselves, which are held in the manager mode data file rather than FIFA.DB, but rather to alter the two tables (rtsg and team_lookup) that control the schedule generation process. My theory for FIFA 06, which I never got around to trying out, was to edit the rtsg entry for the EPL (which has an rtsg value of 0x00300000, or 3145728 decimal) to make it more likely that games will be scheduled midweek. Such a change could be accomplished with a number of tools, I believe, but the one I have a little familiarity with is DB Master.

Two extra things to bear in mind though: such a change will not affect any existing career, because the rtsg data will already have been copied into the manager mode data file, and any change may not necessarily have the desired effect since all you are doing is trying to influence the behaviour of the schedule generation logic (and you might have to wait until the start of the second season to find out).

I guess the ideal solution would be for someone to write a utility that processed the fixture data in the manager mode data file and adjusted it to be more reasonable (no game, for any team, should be scheduled within three days of another game) but that is a non-trivial task, and it might not even be possible (since the manager mode data includes a 12 byte area that seems to be a CRC value, although there is some evidence to suggest that it isn't being used to stop people editing the data).

I had similar issues in the EPL, and actually had 3 games in 2 days. I just decided to play the second game in an easier difficulty and less time (has less effect on player fatigue, etc. And lets be honest, I don't think it's that bad to cheat a little to get through a situation like this. haha.

i changed the ucl id using cm07 so that it can be played from first season.
but in game if i chose liverpool it appeared in both ucl&uefa cup and
barcelona appears twice in ucl in the 1st season.
In second season w/Liverpool i entered both uefa cup and ucl
since i won epl and fa cup. any solutions???? this rubbish exists since fifa04.
the guys then created a patch for f04 which solved the problem. can any do it now.

StevePitts' utility, EAFFAnalyzer, is capable of re-arranging the fixtures to dates where they do not collide. Unfortunately though it is still not possible to manually schedule fixtures or to move them where you want them (or think they ought to be). Im pretty sure he released a public version but you might want to PM him about it. That guy has saved my ass with his utility, especially in later seasons of manager mode where you have 2 league cups + europe + the league and tons of fixtures.

For some reason using CEP makes it even worse since no league games get scheduled in December at all.

Best guess would be that whatever it is that checks that teams don't qualify for both competitions, or qualify twice for the same competition through two different routes, is dependent on the pre-defined tournament ids for those competitions.

Surely if you modify the data from that originally supplied you can't be surprised if things then don't work perfectly??

Is this playing on the PC?? If so, do you still have a manager mode data file with that problem in it, and would you be willing to send it to me?? Just use the email address in my profile (click on my name in the column to the left of this text and choose the 'send email' option) if you have something you are willing to send me.

Thanks for the positive words. I'm still in the throes of getting a Sweetpatch minisite up and running, but you can download the public version from the Sweetpatch download boutique

I should however point out that my code does not attempt to deal with duplicated teams in the ECC/EFA because I've never been able to reproduce that situation nor persuade anyone to send me an example
