I think it will be shameful of Chelsea not to give Ranieri a chance to steer the team he has built. It's going to be a difficult job for Ranieri to juggle all of the players he has that would get first team football at most clubs, but Ranieri is a very good manager who now, with all the money at his disposal, has the chance to prove his worth in England. But if you spend over £100m in one go then you really have to win something proper.
He's got a good track record on the continent, although I disagree with the comments the guy made to have a pop at the teams Chelsea would percieve as their 3 main rivals, after all Juve have won as many UEFA CLs as United over the last decade and Lippi is a coach any team would have, and you can't tell me that any team wouldn't take on Ferguson or Wenger given the chance. Houllier is slightliy different because his track record isn't as good as the others, even though he's done a fair job at Liverpool although they are still finishing in the same league positions as they did under Roy Evans. But, in fairness Arsenal showed glimpses of adaptability with an improvement in the European performances last year, and United are now a good European team that have learned to adapt with the experience they have had, but no team adapts to play a style that is not their's very, very well, they learn to adapt to defend against other styles. (although if you want to dominate a game you need to make the other team adapt to your playing style - ever heard of 'controlling the game' and 'playing at your pace')
