this year THIS YEAR ASSHOLE

Ok, I am an asshole :bob:

Mourinho won the Premier League two seasons in a row and you just said he can't win it and he is sh!t. Quick lesson for you son: He has already proved he can win it which makes you an idiot.

I guess for those two seasons Sir Alex, Wenger and every other manager in the league was **** too? Grow up.

Capela

coppel Has done a great job, Hes the best at the moment.

This post right here illustrates why I rarely come here nowadays. I don't know if the demographics of this place fell considerably or if people just don't care to be smart anymore, but I totally lost the will to have an argument on SG. Yes, there are the few old school regulars who can still have me read what they say every time, and I can name a few newcomers worthy of interest, but that's about it.

Who is the best manager of the world at the moment? And people have no clue.

To apply for best manager in the world you need to have a solid career. You proved to be a winner at the highest level, whether you're coaching a low budget team or a powerhouse with no spending limit - and both are incredibly difficult to handle!!
In case nobody noticed, only one team wins the CL every year but there are at least 5 teams with virtually no restrains in what money is concerned. Gelling all the egos together is no easy task, just check Capello and every other manager at Real Madrid over the past 7 years.
On top of that, if you want to be the best manager of right now you obviously need to be doing well at the moment. With that said I leave you my fave managers still in activity and who I think qualifies for the best of today:

Capello
FOR: a winner. His AC Milan of the early 90's is most impressive team I've ever seen from a tactical point of view. Will be remembered as one of the greats. AGAINST: His team is not doing so well right now, plus he hasn't exactly been on fire for long now (not at the level we were used to), despite one or other successful season.
VERDICT: No.

Mourinho
FOR: Is the most successful manager of the past 5 years. They told him he would not get the job done in Portugal, then everyone expected him to fail in the UEFA Cup, then nobody believed he could win another international cup the following year, then people said he only won titles because he was the Portuguese league is weak. He proved them all wrong and broke every other record along the way. He is a Personality, with capital P, and brings controversy (and, thus, fun) to any match.
AGAINST: Porto's coach, Jesualdo Ferreira, although not brilliant said something I agree completely: Mourinho doesn't have a Career yet. Five years is simply not enough to consider him the best of the best.
VERDICT: Could be.

SAF
FOR: Has the best career in football today. Got ManU from a team nobody wanted to play in to one of the 3 most renown teams in the world. Everybody from Australia to Nigeria, from Russia to Colombia know what Manchester United stands for and who is Alex Ferguson. He can nurture a young talent in his team like no other manager. This year's team is unstoppable. They're going all the way in the Premiership.
AGAINST: Hasn't experienced massive success in a low budget team. And I love it when ManU fans accuse Chelsea or Real Madrid of being 'rich'. :D
VERDICT: Is my n.1 pick, with Mourinho being the 1,5.

Anybody else you people mentioned don't even qualify near these 3 men. Just because your little team is contending for a UEFA spot this year or are through to the CL QF's means very little when compared with these 3 gentlemen above.

Hiddink? For what? Being at the top of a league with amateur teams? Ending 4th in the WC with the hosts of the tournament? Scolari reached the European final and the WC SF's with a team that had NO DECENT FORWARDS! Beat that!

-------------------------------------------------

Agree with my opinions or not, love me or hate me, but that's how you should answer a question!

yeah it's weird phenomenon how Mourinho's accomplishments with Porto have been erased from everyone's memory. Remember when he first came to England and started winning some games he was torn apart because Chelsea won several games by only 1-0!?

Vedran-10

Starting XI
Felipao, Benitez and SAF for me.

Felipao has done a great job with Brasil, playing attractive football and winning the WC in 2002. Then he went on to almost win the Euro with Portugal, and continues to do a great job with the "European Brasil". Plus, it's harder to work with national teams so his success carries even more weight, IMO.

Rafael Benitez succeeded with Valencia and has continued to do so with Liverpool. Winning the Champions League with a team that has one world class player (no offense to Pool) is awesome, and I hope he does it again this season. He's certainly capable of it.

SAF because of continued success for two decades in the same club. Also made a great comeback this season and will probably take the title again.

I don't think people have forgot Mourinho's success with Porto, but there are other reasons why he doesn't get _EVERY_ vote.
