Who do you think will win the WC ?

Rocky

Forza Suarez! (ps brotha can you spare a dime?)
My heart says Italy, but realistically, I say Brazil, closely followed by Spain. And I think England will do very well and won't underachieve like always and no excuse this year to not at least make the semis with Capello as coach.

What's the fascination with the Dutch? Long unbeaten streak? They looked like world beaters at the European Championships 2 years ago coasting through one of the toughest groups of death ever, but then limped to a defeat (when they were favored to win) in their first knockout game......just like they did 2 years prior at the World Cup.

With Robben out, it's only going to get harder for them against quality opposition. I don't view them as a legitimate threat at all. I'd like to see them prove me wrong but I just don't see that happening.

Best possible result: Semi Final.

I will support Argentina, Spain, Netherlands in that order.

But I think Spain will win. But favorites dont win generally. Brazil and England have very good chance.

Um.... RvP, Robben, VdV, and Sneijder in attack. That's the fascination. Plus De Jong and MvB can solidify a shaky defense.

And Robben will be good to go by the knockout stages.

If I'm not mistaken all of those guys(can't remember about De Jong) were there 4 years ago and they never came through. 4 years older, 4 years slower(esp Van Bommel) and like you said, a shaky defense........

4 years slower? None of the attackers are even 28 yet! 4 years ago Sneijder and De Jong were at Ajax, Robben was at Chelsea, and VdV had one season out of Ajax at Hamburg. It's a joke to think that any of those guys were even CLOSE to as good as they are now.

Van Bommel is older and slower, definitely, but he's the kind of guy who relies on positioning and intimidation rather than speed. Sure, theoretically a player could sprint past him up the middle, but how realistic is that really? Speed at DM is not really important.
