When does next gen come to pc?

With computers with dual and in the near future quad cores being the norm and DX10 graphics cards when will next gen come to the pc?

I am sure the pcs can more than easily handle the graphics or is it down to microsoft and sony buying next gen rights?

Could somebody enlighten me on the situation?

still most of the pc owners don't have dual or quad cores. and those who have them will buy current gen games, too, so ea won't change that i the near future.

Like Biebrich said, you won't see next gen on PC until Nvidia and ATI start to get real about the price tags on their high end graphic cards and Intel and AMD the same concerning their high end processors. Until the PC as a machine becomes an affordable piece of equipment for the masses no next gen which would take too costly in developpment for too few sales.

Btw I still have my good old single core 3.4Ghz P4 and it's still doing well, dual and quad core are marketing thingies only since temperature halted the race to the highest Ghz numbers... there are still no apps or games taking advantage of those whaterver the marketing boys in suits tell you :)

Still? Good old? I can't believe it. I have a single core 3.0 Ghz... and i'm working with this pc, too...

I bought it when it was the very top of the line :) That's my strategy, I buy a new computer only once every five or six years but always top of the line so I can do a long time with it, my graphics card is about the only component I upgraded since I bought it and that one came second hand from ebay... it's a choice really, I can't be bothered upgrading stuff every six months like some of my friends do lol.
