what the ****?

And the word cleats is not that funny, Brits and their humour

Shouldn't that be humor?

Do keep up.

The term 'boots' was no doubt first coined at a time when players wore actual boots when playing sport. Our sport, our language, play by the rules. The Japanese word for penalty kick you might ask?

ペナルティー キック (penaruti kikku)

Genius.

You'll find that by definition it's:
"British Humour" and "American Humor"

True. I'm just honoured he made the effort to add the extra 'u' - we know what lazy bastards Americans can be... Dropping 'u' likes its nobody's business.

Shame, there is so many yanks in Japan ruining our language. Its great, when they feel the urge to speak English with you, because of their implausible urge to think you are one of them with your round chubby Caucasian face. I never understand what they say so I pretend I'm French and just walk off. The same can be said of any smart-ass Japanese who wants to speak English to me and not want to pay for the privilege of a conversation...

At least I have good craic with the Aussies. We have a mildly similar cultural heritage. Plus we like the same sports.

Excuse my ignorance, but when you live in England, why would you need to know what a cleat is? No one over here uses all this American malarkey, of course we aren't going to know what it is.
last time I check this was SOCCERgaming.tv

Cleat is not an English word.
Rules dont mean $#!t when your population is less that a quater the size. Language follows people not the other way around.

and then this:
Americans and thinking they are above the world
coming from the person making fun of how someone uses the word "cleats"?? thats comical.

Im a Brazilian, and the last person who needs to defend the ol' US of A, but c'mon people....theres more than one way to speak the language, and theyre alll right to do so.
