Well that's your opinion but for me, Family Guy has never reached the brilliance of The Simpsons and South Park when those shows were at their best. Having said that, Family Guy is still one of the funniest TV shows in recent years.

i think Family could, and would have, been bigger than both Simpsons and South Park. It just wasnt given time to grow, they kept moving its time slot around.

Heres my Family Guy vs Simpsons comparison:

Father:
Peter Griffin vs Homer Simpson - Peter, hes like Homer but waaaaaaayy funnier.

Mother:
Lois Griffin vs Marge Simpson - Lois by a lot, Marge is to caring, like an "eat your vegetables and wear a sweater" type of mom.

1st Born:
Meg Griffin vs Bart Simpson - This is a no brainer, Bart rules here, Meg is too plain, shes a bit boring at times.

2nd Born:
Chris Griffin vs Lisa Simpson - Much like in the previous one the boy is funnier, it seems that the daughters are really never that funny.

The Baby:
Stewie Griffin vs Maggie Simpson - No contest, Stewie is the greatest baby character ever. His attempts at killing Lois are classic.

oh...and my fav cartoon is Family Guy. (Though G I Joe was also a kick ass cartoon)
