1. FIFA = No need to explain since you said you've played for long time.

2. ISS = Developed by KCEO ( Konami Computer Entertainment Osaka). The game itslef only focuses on International teams (No European & South American clubs) & the Arcade version. Here in North America, we used to have that game called ISS Pro '98 (PSone).

In Europe, I think they still have ISS 2 for X-BOX. But, you need to get your X-BOX modded to play European game. Here's the link of
ISS 2 news in Europe .

3. PES = This is the European version from the famous best selling soccer game KCET ( Konami Computer Entertainment [Tokyo ??] ) Winning Eleven series. Well, it has more depth tactical & srategies options, very realistic simulation soccer game EVER. :) And, PES1 & PES2 have both European & South American clubs & currently, PES2 have 56 International teams.

And, the current news about Winning Eleven 6 International for North American version, is only available for PS2 system.

If you still want to get the current Konami's game on X-BOX without the mod chip, there is a game called ESPN MLS ExtraTime 2002 (X-BOX & Game Cube). It has 62 national teams & MLS clubs. No European clubs & South American clubs.

EDIT : PES1 & PES2 are only available for PS2 only.

so the MLS game uses the same engine and stuff as ISS. So PES is way more tactical then ISS.ISS is like an arcade game like fifa.

i admit i never played iss 2, but from what i know it's arcade sytle, but certainly not so much as fifa.

pes and pes2 are available for psone also.

pes series have some differences from the w11 series. much people on this forum can post them better than I would.

next year there will be a version of winning eleven 6 final evolution for gamecube.

Not necessarily. The ESPN MLS ExtraTime 2002 (X-BOX) is a simulation rather than arcade. I think it's based on WE4 engine, if I'm not wrong.

mls extratime 2002 uses the we5 engine.. the same used by PES 1.. the we4 engine is dead old.. and was used by iss pro evolution 1 on the PSX(which was released in america, btw)

If you're looking for the premier soccer title on Xbox at the current time, I would urge you to try FIFA 2003 before committing to MLS ExtraTime 2002. I have both and I think FIFA 2003 far outpaces ExtraTime. I know all of the arguments for ISS/PES over FIFA for realism, but there are two things that really influence the argument this time around:

(1) MLS ExtraTime 2002 is based on an older ISS engine. the_man would know for sure, but I'm almost positive it is not one of the recent WE engines.

(2) FIFA 2003 is a very different animal from the prior FIFAs. It has taken some major strides toward the Konami-style soccer simulation.

Six months ago, I picked MLS ExtraTime 2002 over FIFA 2002 World Cup on Xbox and it was the right choice (although I was still disappointed in MLS ExtraTime overall). Now, however, until a newer soccer game from Konami comes out, FIFA 2003 really is the right choice for the best soccer sim on the Xbox. It looks fantastic and it plays fantastic.

Well i have to disagree getting FIFA over MLS extratime. I'm not going to get into a long arguement because we have all had this argurment before.

FIFA was good for the first few days I played it. I thought they had something. The problem for me was after playing MLS extratime, and WE6, FIFA was certainly too predictable.

The best thing you can do is rent the games, seven days is long enough to get the jist of Extratime and FIFA. And if neither appeal to you well you might have to think about getting a PS2 for WE6:US. As a person who tries to avoid games on the PS2 it's hard to recommend buying that console but hey when one of the best games ever made is only availiable for it then a PS2 is a must.

The lacking part of the series in WE, PES and Extratime. Is the lack of any league system. WE6:JL and Extratime surprising have done it the best in their limited forms. But FIFA just has them for show with no real funtionality to them.

Any I suggest you give it a rental and see if it's worth a purchase.

Sorry man

Holes I agree with your verdict that FIFA 2003 is much better than previous FIFAs but is not even in the same league as PES. Now I know I decided to give FIFA a go as my PS2 is being modded right now, so I went and bought a copy.

I started the game up and thought wow! what have I been missing? All the teams, the graphics, the different game types. I thought ok maybe I was wrong to ignore it. Then I played my first game, "ooooh" as the players walked out, names on the shirts, began drooling at the grpahics again. Then I started playing, and I began to realise there were many problems with the engine still. The ball still sticks to the players, and the ball physics are absolutely awful when compared to PES (or ISS PE2 even). The ball just doesnt run right. In FIFAs defence I will say that the through ball is now great as the pass does go almost where you want it, especially with practice. However the "smart pass" is bloody awful! The ball never seems to reach its intended target, and even when it looks like it might the opposition make huge lunges to get to intercept. Makes it really difficult to play with. Shooting engine in FIFA is also awful really they ought to rip off the engine from PES for this. I think it is partly because I am used to PES but the engine just doesnt feel "natural". The free kicks feel really odd with this new "golf game" style sweet spot. BUT the most annoying thing is the lack of options to change your team in FIFA, your options are basically you can substitute players or choose a new formation????? What about marking, forward runs, counter attacking, etc, etc?????? This is what is really the worst thing about FIFA, ok it means the 8 yo can pick it up and play but its is so limited !!! FIFA has great graphics and all the teams, but every player responds in pretty much the same way.

Now I dont know what MLS 2002 is like, but even if it is based on the WE5FE engine then it would be better in terms of ball physics, and team options. OK so you dont get all the teams, and fancy graphics. Personally I would suggest getting ePSXe (PSX emulation) and maybe a copy of WE5FE, and then running the Rhapsody patch (giving you the proper teams and kits).

Advantages of FIFA:

1. Superb graphics.
2. Amazing commentary.
3. Every team you could want.

Advantages of PES:

1. Ball physics and player physics really make a difference, the ball sometimes even bobbles.
2. Different players play differently. Beckham truly is only right footed and if you dont set him right (i.e. try to shoot with his left foot) he will either try a right footed shoot or balloon it. If a game is not going right bringing on a different player can make a difference.
3. Tactical play. You can spend hours editing exactly where your players will play on the pitch and then telling them to make forward / defensive runs, and then editing the teams overall play. Choose to try and mark the best players out of the game.
4. Each player has at least 15 different attributes (lots more on PES/WE6) games. Each of these has setting 1-99, and they really do make a difference.

i got both fifa 2003 and extra time 2002,and i must say extratime 2002 is MILES better than fifa.. fifa may seem fun the first couple of games.. u got all the real faces,kits,etc.. but then it gets dead boring just like all the other fifas.. there are way too many scripted moments, and i just hate that kind of stuff.. and even tho the player models are dead detailed, the animations are obviously lacking when compared to extratime..
extra time may not have 20 leagues and real kits, faces and all that sh1t.. but its damn fun to play.. i dont really like the MLS in real life.. but in extratime its really fun,u get to play for 5 seasons, some players may retire if theyre too old,at the beginning of the season theres a draft in which u can pick up young players(really good feature) u earn points by winning matches, and its much more exciting than any fifa 2003 league.. so ok,maybe it doesnt have real madrid, but the game lets u create new teams, and set its kit, badges, name and everything.. u can edit the national teams too.. and not only that,u get tons of tactic options like WE and PES.. and its not based in an old we engine, its based on the WE5,which isnt that old.. and its still damn good, even we3 and we4 are excelent games and are much better than fifa.. and for 20 bucks, this game's a real bargain

cymonguk: ePSXe is a psone emulator, and WE5FE is a ps2 game.. and there are no ps2 emulators yet..

I have to agree with Tom on this one too. I have both for the x-box and from a gameplay standpoint mls is much better. If you want to play proper leagues and the such you should stick to fifa of course but if you want a good playing soccer game MLS is very good. Also someone mentioned epsxe which is a ps1 emulator and then you can play isspe2 or we2002. I also think there is a pes for ps1 if I am not mistaken. I would say get MLS extratime for the x-box and if you want to try other iss games get the ps1 emulator and try and get isspe2 or we2002.
