On another thing about what happened to football..

What is the point of a player being captain these days and how does he contribute to the game more than the other players? It seems these days a captain is just a player who selects the toin coss before the match and shakes hands with the referees, oh and wears an arm band.

What else does a captain do? To me it seems nothing. Take Beckham for an example, missing 2/2 very important penalties is hardly a way to set an example for the others.

The captain fulfils a number of roles, on and off the field. Off the field, he is the person other players can go to if they have any issues they want to raise with the manager but don't want to do themselves - the captain is in a way the 'midway' authority, someone who has the respect of both the players and the manager.
On the field, I guess he is also the midway person, perhaps guiding tactics, making decisions over penalty takers (well, I think he should if noone is willing to step up), rallying the troops etc. etc. If you can recall the England WC qualifier against Greece, Beckham showed some real leadership by being everywhere and trying to motivate the team when they looked down and out.

If it hadn't been for beckham, Greece would have won. That Carlos*ass of man.

Just a little update:

I have a few days ago went out and found some Spanish speaking people that let me play with them. I had a crap load of fun and scored 2 great goals. I am much more confident about being able to play as I took on all of them and they couldn't touch the ball and even threw in some sliding tackles.

Hey WASSAP man, I live in Greenwich, CT and if you wanna get WRECKED let me know. I gurantee I will burn the skin off your body with one of my R. Carlos like powershots.

Well you have it lucky cause here in this rich disgusting freemason town you NEED A FU##$ PERMIT TO PLAY FOOTBALL:f***: :f***:

That is just RIDICULOUS. I play alone since these ugly redneck cops chased out all my latin people out of the parks.

America BLOWS when it comes to football...

Greenwich is like 11 minutes away from Stamford on the metronorth.

I also play alone most of the time as well but you can find a crapload of people here that play. You also have to make sure they can understand you because they don't usually speak that much English.

We need a permit for parks and beaches here as well, but I play at the school which is like 2 minutes walking distance away.

Today there were no 55mph winds so I went outside and played with the same hispanic guys I played last time. I made one great run and they even clapped for me but the rest of the time I was out muscled. I can catch up with them even if they're 5 meters in front of me and running but I can only run for about a minute.

Hopefully I'll be able to play for my school this year.

I went to the first practice today and the coach told me I needed a medical slip and to come back monday. I was rather frightened by what I saw because they were doing laps. I decided to just give him the slip today and play but by the time I got back they had already moved on to the larger field and were running laps around that...so I just **** it

:(

All the guys there are like 2 metres tall and have enough muscles to lift a car. I'm just just about 1.75. I am very fast but there's no way I can run as much as a mile.

:(

And everybody (including the coach) looked at me with a what "what is he doing here" look

Damn jocks

I am very upset because I had been looking forward to playing football but it seems it's impossible

I can run...but there's no way I can go from no physical training to running 5 miles a day. The last time I played on a team was in 6th grade. I played under a great coach though, he used to coach at Kiev Dynamo.

No. Read what I wrote. I wanted to play but couldn't find a place.

you are one weird little dude.

this high school team that you want to play for has probably finished its conditioning routines and now runs the daily 1-2 miles routine. if you cant run 1 mile under 7 minutes then you dont deserve to be on varsity period.

Yes I'm a weird little dude
You're a big tall scary many.

I remember you. You were the guy that used to come on here and say you were the ******* best and you should be a pro. So you a pro yet?

See while they were practicing their conditioning routines I was working at a hospital with a 2 hour one way commute. I've never played sports before. Wtf is your problem? I have no problem playing with them. I have a problem with running 5 miles a day because I've never done it.

I think you're a dip**** to be honest. I'm sure your professional club is calling you up right now to wonder why you missed training.
