What gameplay additions would you like to see in future ISS games?

[I have an exam in about, 11 hours and I plan to sleep for maybe 4, so while I should be spending the rest studying I just wanted to start some ISS discussion, because this is the most ISS fans I've seen in one place on the net and I don't want everyone to leave now that discussion of ISS is basically not permitted on the #1 message board]

So what would you like to see in future ISS games. I've read tons of PES previews and I haven't yet played WE5 so the multitude of gameplay additions already stated will be more than enough for me, but hey, I'm greedy so I'd like to see more stuff;

1)I think I mentioned this in another thread, but a Throw-in stat for players, and then the ability to chose the throw-in taker.

2)Throwing statistics for goalies (both strength and accuracy).

3)Even more set plays (ie 'right side attack' etc), I know there's already Centre Back Overlap, but I'd also love to see a desperation strategy where your GOALIE comes up when you have a corner - like when you're losing at the end of the game, for example Schmiecel scored for Villa against Everton on Saturday. It's usually suicide but when you're losing and have a corner in the dying moments it would add even more tension to make your keeper come up as well.

4)Fake cross (I think someone else mentioned this)

I'll think of more later, what are your ideas?

#3 sounds really good. Too bad Schmiecel is not playing with Manu anymore. The could use him in the goal against Deportivo.

I can only think of one right now. The one special move that I really want to see is for a player receiving a pass ball can flick it over a defender's head and then advance it. It's a hard trick to master in real life.

The good old 'nutty', or as is more commonly known in the game as the nutmeg, the ball that is pushed between a defenders legs to make a fool of him .. Ned

Sweetness! That would be awesome, could you imagine in PES2 (or WE6) if the crowd got even more into it, and if you skinned an opposing player the home crowd would laugh/cheer.

Along those lines, and I know this isn't gameplay, but when you're winning near the end of the game, at home, and started passing around the ball - wouldn't it be cool if the home fans started doing 'ole's' every time you passed it to take the piss out of the losing team?

V-9, do you mean the move that Gascoigne did against Scotland at Euro 96?

Gazza. The one and only. Too bad alchy ruined his career.

Well since we are at it. What about attributes for the ref. I mean with the CM partnership, EA can set attributes for the ref. Some ref are more stricter than others. This will make the game more interesting. Maybe it's the CM in me.

Heck, some awesome ideas, I like the throw in one, and the keeper throw. The crowd could be improved, more noticable home and away cheering too. But I think I have the mother of ideas. Hear me out :

" 0-0 tie, 78 minutes in, a deceving throughball from the center mid to your dtriker, he's through on goal, slots it in and scores. They go nuts, the team celebrates in joy, hug as the crowd goes bananas, but hold....

offside !

It's been dissalowed, the linesman's flag is up ! The crowd starts booing, the players are distressed, the commentator cannot believe it (hopefully not Butcher again) and the replay shows, he's clearly offside. 0-0 still, free kick to the opposition."

how's that sound?

That would be very cool - they actually had that in Kick Off 2 for the Atari ST where there were different referees. S.Screech was bastard........ :)

Anyways, stats for refs would be great - if you have Jeff Winter refereeing you better go easy on the slide tackles, if it's Collina then you've got the perfect ref!

I wonder how you would incorporate a gazza-esque lob without making it a Fifa type 'skill' (lol) move.

Very cool, I guess the programmers would have to make it so that delayed off-sides were only called every once in a while though - otherwise might get annoying, but the let down in emotion after the high of thinking you've scored would be amazing. Equally as cool would be if that happened to the CPU, I'd piss myself laughing.

Is the passive offside rule called in WE5?

[btw, my exam is in 8 hours and I have done NO studying since midnight EST! LOL I love coffee] :crazyboy:

Isn't that always the case? You don't do anything the weeks before, then when you're up, red-eyed, half asleep the night before the exam, you wonder, why, oh why, didn't I start studying last week?.

Vicious cycle, and each time I tell myself I'll change. But who am I kidding. :)

Screw studying, I'm on to my back up plan....praying.

I'm off to bed. Nite all.

PS Anyone see this goal by G-R (he posts here and in another forum I go to) ?

The man has to be a pimp because he made that goalie his b!tch. What a goal!

Here are a few more that would look ok in the Main Finals, i don't really know if they have ever been placed on any wish lists to date, but here goes .. Ned

1:> Players kicking footballs into the crowd as keepsakes before the game starts.
2:> Team Captains exchanging penants or banners at the coin toss.
3:> Players exchanging shirts after the final whistle.
4:> Team Managers\Coaches facial\body expressions as there team either scores or concedes a goal.
5:> Playres loosing a boot after a heavy tackle.
6:> Games being postponed after weather disrupts play, followed by the usuall Wednesday night floodlight replay.
7:> Shirts getting ripped or torn after being grabbed by erratic defenders.

Yeah, that goal was sweet when I done it. I was just mucking around and thought I'd try it. Man, I was so happy when I pulled it off. I've done it twice in my playing time of ISS PE1. I did it once more with Pele (I said this in another topic)

Anyway, to add to the discussion, I'd like a body swerve, where the player quickly shakes his shoulders while dribbling the ball to make it look like hes going to go to one side, but either doesn't or goes the other way. It's hard to explain, but my mate Tiago (from brazil) does it to perfection, and it's really hard to tell which way he's going to go.

A bit more things like the players crowding the ref when he's going to give a card and medics etc when players get badly hurt.

I posted this earlier in this forum(it is based on isspe2, not we5 or pes)

wishlist for the gameplay(most important):

- better long ball passes("long through ball passes" like in the fifa 2002 video)
- better crossing(they are too slow and they allways seem to go to someone + there should be more bad crosses by players who aren't good at crossing, like crossing into the public, or against an opponent), also the goalkeeper should catch some crosses
- strikers should make more runs(to the outside)
- more moving players in general
- better marking(especially wingbacks)
- more creativity from the computer(not only crosses)
- less goals from shots outside the 16(better goalkeepers) and like the crossing, more bad shots
- better dribbling(fast winger style dribling)
- more "special moves", like Zidane doing his spin
- harder to make a cross(but easier to cross from far away)
- improve the heading system, like if someone is in front of a defender and he(the attacker) is taller, there is no way that the defender will head the ball
- players making use of their body more(blocking other players and stuff like that)
- an arrow system like used in fifa 2001 so that you can see who you are going to pass to(maybe)
- more support from midfielders both in attack an defense
- better indirect free kicks
- fake cross like Neutral mentioned

apart from gameplay-wise the most important features should be:
- better competition options/editing like being able to have 2 poules of ten where 4 go through of each poule afterwards they will form two poules again in the second round and eventually the final is played between the winners of teh two poules)
- more player attributes
- exibition matches and cups for club teams
- more club teams

- better long ball passes("long through ball passes" like in the fifa 2002 video)

it has these, hold L1 and the through ball button, or the long pass button at the right power(I do this all the time)

- better crossing(they are too slow and they allways seem to go to someone + there should be more bad crosses by players who aren't good at crossing, like crossing into the public, or against an opponent), also the goalkeeper should catch some crosses

they're the right speed(I find, I'm pretty sure you'll agree)) and there are heaps of bad crosses by bad players. This is a fact. They cross into players, too long, too short and the 'keeper catches them sometimes. It is as real as you get

- strikers should make more runs(to the outside)

they do make lot's of intelligent runs, it depends on formation, midfielders and a crapload of other factors. I have no problems with the gameplay in this dept.

- more creativity from the computer(not only crosses)

Thre is creativity, play against France or Italy and you'll see.

- an arrow system like used in fifa 2001 so that you can see who you are going to pass to(maybe)

Bad idea, I hope KONAMI never makes this, you point at the guy who you're passing to, it will give too much away, it's like having an arrow for penalties.

- more support from midfielders both in attack an defense

This is one of the most realistic features, it's great the way defensive mids help out, and the attacking mid, like Croatia's Vugrinec comes to the forefront and makes overlapping runs with the strikers. No complaints here.

- fake cross like Neutral mentioned

read other thread, just fake a shot and it's the same thing.

The rest of your complaints can be tweaked by Konami, but in no way do they constitute to a mediocre game. It's brilliant, but with some tweaks, can be better.

Oh dearie me, i made a bad bad spelling mistake .. Ned

5:> Playres loosing a boot after a heavy tackle. :D
..............................................................................
Correction .. Players losing a boot after a heavy tackle, but not half a leg that would be a tad too cruel, but then, it could add another element to the game with a team of half legged players jumping around the park ..

it has these, hold L1 and the through ball button, or the long pass button at the right power(I do this all the time)

these are more like chips over the defenders. They're not long balls which are given from your own half.

they're pretty slow if you ask me.....
I never see any really bad crosses. They never go into the sidenetting, they're never too low...... And I've have really NEVER seen a keeper cath the cross.

I strongly disagree on both things here. Loads of times the strikers just stand still and loads of times the midfielders stop running back or forward. I wish I could save a replay lof this....

read other thread, just fake a shot and it's the same thing.

I haven't tried it yet, but I expect the player to use the other foot. What I mean is when I'm on the left and I want to (fake)cross I will use my left foot, but if I want to shoot, I will use my right foot.

Yes that's a valid point, maybe ot wont do the fake right everytme.

They're not long balls which are given from your own half.

ofcourse they are if that's what you want, a wighted ball using the long ball button (0)

I never see any really bad crosses. They never go into the sidenetting, they're never too low...... And I've have really NEVER seen a keeper cath the cross.

then you haven't played long enough, or you're on easy or something. Happens a lot, hits side netting, when you low cross(do you know how to low cross?) the keeper can catch it. I've seen it hit the top of the bar, the top of the net, keper catch it, deflect off defenders etc. Play the game, go and see.

Loads of times the strikers just stand still and loads of times the midfielders stop running back or forward.

nope, I've been playing it for a year, and I don't see the problem. It depends on your strikers, their attributes and your formation, the flow of the game and mentality of your team. Do you know how to tweak mentality? Sure, there are spells in the game where there is little movement, but I feel this reflects a real game perfectly. This happens in all soccer games, and Konami knows it.

which game did you play? I suspect you might be playing ISS2000 or something, because most of your complaints are certainly invalid to ISS Pro Evo2.

I was like you! I always left it until the last minute! One year we had ten exams in the space of three weeks. That meant one every second day. I nearly died. A few of the guys actually collapsed during some of the latter exams. It was tough!!! I still sometimes wake up in a sweat because I dreamt that I wasn't prepared for an exam. And this is 20 years after the event. Anyway good luck with your exams. I hope you'll get good results.

As for new features in ISS, I see a lot of good suggestions here. Maybe SCTW can start a ISS wish list ;-)

Just a few points to adress. some features that PES and WE5 have that have been requested.

Better long balls. In PES they have 5 ways of doing long balls. I'm sure at least 1 of them will be what you guys want.
Crowd reaction. If you look at the PES vids, when a goal is scored if you look at the crowd (too bad we didn't get sound with those) you will see that the crowd of the team that got scored on, lowered the big flags. This I would take as a reaction. Sound would have been awesome tho.
Crosses into box. I don't know about you guys but in WE5 my crosses don't always hit people. Many a time Overmars crosses the ball, It flies over Kluiverts head and Zenden who is making a second run tries to get a foot on it but the cross was too much, or it was always going wide.
As for crossing speed. Switch to a wide angle camera and see how fast the crosses are whipped in.

I think that's all I wanted to adress.

-I would like the throw in system change, like neutral mentioned.
-More animation of players and goalkeepers (this is in PES)
-this is not gameplay but it is a game feature. Please, instant replays!!! Wow, there are many a time where I would have great midfield work or a great play that does not involve a goal that i would like to save.

umm, that's about all i can think of off the top of my head....if i get more i'll post
