West Ham United are closing in on Greece international Vaggelis Mantzios.

The young striker is expected to travel to England on Monday to discuss a switch to Upton Park.

Mantzios currently plays for Panionios in his homeland but is aiming to clinch a deal with Alan Pardew's Hammers.

Pardew has watched the 21-year-old in action this season and has been impressed sufficiently to arrange a deal for the forward.

He also boasts experience of European competition, having played in the Uefa Cup this term, scoring a hat-trick against Dinamo Tbilisi in the group phase.

A medical is due to be undertaken on Monday before Mantzios returns to Athens on Wednesday, by which time he hopes to be a West Ham player.
