With EA at Konami's heels with FIFA 2005, Konami is firing back with its next installment to its popular series, Winning Eleven 8. Although FIFA has outsold Winning Eleven in Europe, in Japan Winning Eleven continues to dominate, largely due to the fact that they have the JFA license (EA's reportedly working on one for FIFA 2005).
Winning Eleven 8 will have more teams to choose from, now boasting over 200 including national and club teams. Many of the teams added include pro teams from Italy, Spain, England, Germany, France, and Holland (some with fake player names due to licensing issues). The teams you can choose from in Master League have increased, from 64 to 138.

Although specifics haven't been announced, the gameplay controls will be tweaked, with changes made to direct passes and centering, and new faint turns and ball controlling techniques, promising a more "direct" feel to the play.

Some steps have been taken to make the game more beginner-friendly, with a tutorial explaining soccer rules and control techniques. Also, a quick reference list for moves can be accessed by pausing the game.

Graphics will be touched upon, with the uniforms changing and getting dirtier as the match progresses. Graphical customizing for individual teams will be enhanced, enabling you to have more options in editing emblems and league names.

Winning Eleven 8 is slated for release August 5 of this year in Japan, retailing for 7,329 yen ($65). Expect the game to be released stateside as well. - Gamepro

it depends on user tastes, one prefer beer, another like wine...I care about gameplay only and don't care what you care...if WE8/PES4 won't fulfil your expactations you won't play that, it's simply....

and about online mode:
Computer and Video Games Interview with Seabass:

So if the next version is most likely to be online on PC, does that mean you're unable to confirm that Pro Evolution Soccer 4 on PS2 will be online in Europe? People are obviously disappointed that PES3 has no online functions.

Seabass: Sooner or later, we will go online. It's likely PC will be quicker, but that does not mean PES4 on PS2 won't be online. We experiment all the time and sooner or later we will go online.

PCZone Interview with Seabass:

Can we expect PES4 to have online compatibility?

Seabass: I'd love to announce online for next year- and its coming closer. In fact, PES could be online on the PC before the PS2 version.

I wish I could.
Unfortunately, except Seabas interview (half an year, suppose?) there are no ANY words about online.
Though, I still have hope to see this feature in pes4, cause Konami is full of secrets and surprise ;)

Lol, why the hell is this thread turning into another PES PC vs FIFA PC flame war?

Take this sh*t elsewhere, please. Thanks.

Online is an importante feature, licences for leagues and good graphics too, it's not all about gameplay...

Online - not a "must" its nice to have a friend at your house to play.

licences for leagues - the most useless thing.... with or without licences, patch makers make there own stuff anyway.

graphics - agree but ps2 its very limited so don´t expect miracles.

gameplay - well sorry but its all about gameplay.

@feliycora: I agree with you ;-)
@jumbo: this is because of that dick, he came here only to fulfil his mission "I must bash konami games, I must bash konami games, EA paid me so much, I must glory their games and bash konami games, I must..."
@AcillateM: very accurate conclusion; yes, it's ALL ABOUT GAMEPLAY
@redman: it's not WE wishlist thread..I personally bet that online will be only in PC version (WE8=PS2, PES4=PC) but I could be wrong of course...
@all: no matter how good WE will be, all of us will get it and play it, and always some dicks will come and will bash it and we will ignore them, it's natural sequence of things...:p
