WE7I (jap version): the Long Ball

Has anyone mastered the different types of long balls through the game? I have been dinking around, I noticed a low hard and fast long ball and floaters, how to you perform both. Also, I haven't noticed quite yet, can you add curve to these! Just wondering, since I am also having troubles on my corners as well! It's not the same as WE7 at all!

Yes, WE7I Japan is completely different to the Korean/USA WE7I. Gameplay has been improved and there are different boots, a new unlockable ball, a new stadium, updated rosters..

I was wondering about the same thing for croses. I liked that they are whipped in now but it would be nice to be able to float them to if you want to. Does anyone know if this can be done? Thanks.

I know there are 3 kinds of long passes.
The normal, high, large and slow centering done by pressing O once.
A fast, middle-height pass is done by pressing O twice.
And the fastest and low cross that it's a kind of a straight through pass (works very well when you have an striker on the opposite side of the keeper) is done by pressing O three times (FAST).

Hope I helped you =)

I wish I could say thanks but that wasn't what I meant. I actually am looking more for the long balls, i.e. switching fields, or hitting a streaking forward on for goal. I noticed that you can either whip these balls or float 'em. How do you do these both? I seem to only be floating the dayum buggers!

Hey Ak,

Do you know if you can do this with crosses as well? Or do you find that all of the crosses are whipped in? Thanks.

WE7i in the US is not a direct port of PES3. The game play is quite a bit different.

WE7i and WE7i JAP are also not the same.

I have trouble understanding Konami's inability to sync up on releases.

Here's the thing, and it took me awhile to figure out just this. Depending on your long ball type (1-5) will decide what button you have to press to deliver a whipped in cross and a floater. Regardless of what setting, when you perform an automatic cross, just pressing O and it crosses for you, it will be whipped in. To get it to be a floater, you will have to do a manual long ball into the box. Now I believe when you have it set such as that, you can actually use the L1+O autocross and it will be a floater, even though that can be considered automatic as well, but since the O button itself is designated as autocross, that somehow lets you just float it in with L1+O.

For any settings where O is not the autocross but a manual long pass, L1+O becomes whipped in crosses. Hence to float the ball in, you can basically use the O button and float the pass in manually.

Occasionally it seems random though with the whipped in crosses, not too sure why.

Another thing I noticed, the long balls can be whipped per say as well. I used Roberto Carlos to experiment. On setting 1, you can use auto aim long balls, simply press O and the long passes are fast and low, but if you use manual it becomes a floater. Same with one or two more settings. The first one seems pretty clear though, it is these long passes I can't figure out 100% sure. How exactly are the fast low long balls performed. The floaters seem to be automatic when you use a manual long ball!

Hope someone can clarify!

BTW. My mistake then Furious George, I heard from others it was a direct port, never actually played it myself. pardon my assumption then to those who took it as fact!

I know, i wasn't much help, this is for sure though, if you want to float the ball in on for a cross, use the manual long ball. What ever button or combo you have your controller setting on, use the manual one to get the high floater in. Harder to control, but it gives you the desired effect.

You were helpful actually. I understood what you were saying and messed around with it a bit last night and figured it out. Now if I could get corners figured out :) Thanks

Ive noticed on corners that if you use more or less full power with swerve it goes more or less into the center of the area where as on PES 3 it would fly out of touch on the other side. Also I think R1 and R2 have something to do with the float of the ball.
