Ok...the shooting system. After WE7, all other PES titles seem to have simplistic shooting systems, not dynamic or real, I cannot go back to WE6FE.

The power bar is now more sensitive, it takes some getting used to, but its much better for it. It possible to perform volleys, delicate shots, hard long drives....all the shots under the sun !

Volleys: Need I say more?

First timers: Now possible, more realistic, believable and deadly. Plus more swerve.

Long shots: So real it hurts. You'll miss, hit itover, watch it go wide etc. Its possible to do a great shot from more than 20m out, which is real. Add to this the ball physics, first timers and volleys....you've got sotheing no other game can compete with. Plus the swerve !

One on one: a slight tap in, a lob, angled lob, a hard drive....all possible and all realistic.

Mid range efforts: More swerve adds to the satisfaction, but the delicate power bar means you can screw up at the worst time, just like real footy.

Free kicks: MUCH IMPROVED !You now need to curl the ball more if you wanna score, much better system due to new power bar and more rewarding to score.

All in all, watch a real game (I just finished watching both Champs league matches and it makes me appreciate WE7 all the more), notice the shooting, how they time shots, how many will miss, how many are a threat on goal. WE7 best recreates this, and its the most fun of all of Konami's games to play for my money......this is so real it hurts...

after 11 months of PES2 edited I havnet looked fwd to a game that is set to deliver like this since i can remember.

heh thx Cro ..after running around all day for this modchip and problems with media..it's starting to feel all worth it again :)

...just gotta apply joy's patch, burn, then WE7 time :)

After a week of pause, we've had another few matches and we have the same feeling you do. It's a different game, more real, but still, things do happen a bit too fast. It's true, if you step on the ball, or, you don't rush, sprint and pass it like before, you have a real game, which needs more effort to master. Yes, you get more annoyed, but this is the realism detail added to the whole thing.
I have to complain once more about few things, shooting, defence, overall speed. It's very difficult to know exactly when and how to shoot! Power bar should take time to add power instead of simply getting into the position and just tapping.
Regarding the defence, the defenders should have more advantage meaning covering space, like before.
Overall speed is in our opinion higher than before and that's the factor that has to be adjusted only to add to the realism!

Well after playing WE7 for a few days now..I can safely pat myself on back about getting the modchip :D

It truly is a big leap from PES2 even Edited for Balance PES2. The main thing that took me a day or 3 to get used was the extra subtlety (bad spelling?) of senstivity u have around the pitch and with ur controls. I also like the shooting system..far more realistic..it really is a big improvement.

The dribbling is also a big improvement. You wont be able to score your normal PES2 goals with ur star players nearly as much. However the team aspect of dribbling and passing is way more fluid and conducive to improvisational passages of play - like real life ! no more "knowing where the ball is gunna roughly go" or " yeah i can contain or beat this team " in WE7 u may well be containing or beating them but then they will carve something out.

The use of lob balls and volleys is prolly one of the most noticeable improvements. They now flow with excellent ball pyhsics allowing u to use them in fast build ups and the like. In PES2 I hardly ever used them cos the ball physics were too slow.

I've just played another 20 matches this weekend and here's what I find:
It is absolutely amazing how many new elements are added, and you find them all the time. You simply can apply almost every situation from the real thing, almost completely depending on you skill. Now, you just need more time to master, and more imagination to apply it at the right time. It's also amazing how it can throw you into despair, like never before. More elements, and of course, more things random now, like never before.
Just to mention a few situations that happened to me - I've played a set of 6 matches against the 2 different opponents. First 2 I've won by 4:0 and the next one 2:0, with no work at all for my keeper, 1 to 3 shots at my goal in all matches. Next 3, I played in the same manner, the same pace, creating the same number of chances and clear goal situations, shots 12 and 15 to 1 or 2, but no, I lost 2 by 0:1 and the 3rd by 1:2. I can't describe exactly how I felt. It was rediculous even to watch it from the side! It does happen in real life, but like once in 50 matches, not in 3 out of 6! The number of saves by the keeper, posts I hit, penaltiees missed!Is it just the game being random, or am I being cheated?I think it's important to mention that we always play with mid class teams, like Bugaria, Romania, Turkey - so to add to the realism. Superstar teams and players are way to skillful and powerfull to enjoy.
Anyway, the game is wonderful, and I just hope the PES3 will be very same! Regarding the overall speed, it's now feeling a lot better, but still a bit fast!

Have you noticed that in 90% of the matches keepers at least once a game make silly mistakes that often end up with a goal? It simply drives you crazy!
How do you add swerve to the shot from a sprint?
Is there such ability value for each player? I'm asking this simply because I have managed to take some brilliant 30m shots, but always just saved by the keeper, as it always seems to fly straight!I haven't managed to score from further then 20m!

Add swerve by pressing the appropriate direction in which the ball swerves while shooting ! So if you're on the left side of the field, you take a right footed shot to the right side of the goal (keepers left, your right) press <- (left arrow) to add spin, so it curves into the far post.

Just like in real football, it doesn't work everytime.

I have not noticed the keeper mistakes, aonly Barthez makes some shocking ones...and also the ML keeper Inorov :)

We've got our hands on PES3!
I don't know which version it is, but it looks very final! It looks brilliant, but, there is a very bothering detail, which you've mentioned already - the screen stutters everytime you punch a long shot across the field and every time the ball crosses the goal line! Apart from that, I can't say much for now! The game looks pretty much like WE7, only a bit slower, which is absolutely great! We've played just a few mathces and there's a very noticable improvement over WE7 beside overall speed - the defence. It's a lot easier to steal the ball when properly positioned, while in WE7 you never new and had to remain well off the forward in order not to get passed by. The matches with such concentrated defence end up with very little chances and with shots only from outside! Very real! Only a little mistake by the defence line, for example when pulling them out for an offside trap will end up with the punishment! All other elements are identical to WE7!
Anyway, I'll say much more once I get my own wrapped copy from the shop!
I hope the stutters will be gone by then!

I agree, I mean the transfers for one get annoying. I have updated everything in PES2.

Transfer, Kits, the Flags. I was so bored. Found a guide on every club teams flag, so I did it. Looks good now.

dude, what do you have against the pc version?

the graphics will be capable of higher resolutions. that's it.

everything else will be exactly the same. it's a port of the ps2 version.
