argentina played very well. riquelme, saviola, crespo, lucho, mascherano and roque junior among others were very good. brazil's defense is far from being good and when they get even worse, that's what we get. with our awful passing and argentina's pressure on brazil's defense, the consequences are obvious. but it was not only the defense. the midfield was terrible too, and, unfortunately, nothing can take zé roberto off the team. i don't think he's crap, but there are better options for me. ronaldinho should be red carded, no question. he, robinho and kaká were well marked, but if that's enough to let them with no action, they should have changed something, or subbed. parreira is very conservative concerning substitutions, and even with good names on the bench he doesn't do much.
obviously i'm not happy with the result, but i think that brings at least one good thing: it showed brazil is not that good. for the players and also for the public -- many people around the world (including on these boards) were kind of under illusion after the game against paraguay. if brazil had beaten argentina, people would keep under that illusion (but then that could be a true illusion, hehe).
brazil did good against paraguay, but it looked we played better than we actually played. why? because, like william said, paraguay were sleeping. yesterday some similar thing happened on that first half-hour: argentina played brilliantly and they were helped by the total brazilian disorganisation. i'm not taking any argentinian credit off here, after all they were good enough to make a good use of the brazilian flaws.
ps: stats are mismatching. some says it's 33-22-33, some 34-22-33 (argentina-draw-brazil) and there may be other different ones.
