On another topic Ronaldo was asked to comment on the game and explain what happened and why. He merely replies: "Talk to Carlos Queiroz"

Yeah, really classy. :clapwap:

C.Ronaldo probably said that since he didn't do anything himself all game... :S

Doesn't matter who deserved the win, it doesn't changed the fact that the goal was scored from an offside and the red card was pulled out of the ref's ass. These things do change the course of a game.
Really? Because nothing changed after the goal and the red came way too late to be of much consequence. Even the Portugal fans here aren't complaining.

I was shocked to hear today that Portugal was ranked 3rd in the World. How did that happen?? On a points basis, they were knocked out in the quarterfinals of the Euro and they struggled to qualify for the World Cup.

It's been said, but Ronaldo was pretty disgraceful. If I were a Portuguese fan I'd have been livid in the first half when he didn't get a foul he was looking for and sat on the pitch like a baby for 10+ seconds instead of getting up and playing. People always cut Messi down for not performing for his country, but compared to Ronaldo he's the Landon Donovan of Argentina.

Spain looked better today, but I still think we played sloppy. We had more bad passes than I'm comfortable with and didn't look sharp in front of goal. I hope we continue to improve.

Villa - Maravilla
Torres - Terrible. We instantly seemed more dangerous when Llorente came on. I know an in-form Torres is lethal, but he shouldn't start anymore.
Sergio Ramos - F*ck him. Every dangerous play that Portugal had was because Ramos was slowly trotting back from some offensive run he made.

Really? I thought he was one of the best players on the team. I think he provided a lot in attack and carried him-self well. I didn't know he was so good in attack and with his weak foot. I thought what he brought to the team attacking made up for his defensive mistakes.

Villa was offside, but unlike some other situations this one was close:

Was going to post that. What a jerk...

And that Villa goal seems like offside, but it's really close, and I think the linesman couldn't even see that Xavi touched the ball.

Torres was horrible, Llorente showed us who's the real Fernando Torres.

Ronaldo was his usual self, got frustrated from the beginning when he couldn't get anything going, started going down and crying to the refs and getting more selfish every minute.

It should be very annoying to play with Cristiano, he's always criticizing his team mates in the match.

Well, the goal was offside, so it was definitely unfair to Eduardo, Carvalho, Alves and Coentrão, who gave their all. Also Meireles and Almeida. Besides Villa's plays (caused by Queiroz's decision to play Costa) and Ronaldo's ego (probably inflated by Queiroz), Spain weren't too dangerous either, so maybe at least an Extra-Time?

Either way I'm just trying to analyse it unbiasedly, but the fact is we were pretty crap throughout the competition.

I think one thing is for certain. In this current form Spain > Portugal. But another thing is for certain Villa goal was offside. Either way, maybe Spain would reach the victory, but we never know...

The players are against Queiroz... Ronaldo's statement, Deco saying that the players are united (not the case with the manager), hugo almeida disapointed...

I think Queiroz is a great person but with this atmosphere its better for him to get out. I cant think of portuguese managers to come, one that i had in mind was Jesualdo Ferreira but he's in Malaga now. Manuel Jose... I dont know... But one thing is for certain, if someone comes to replace Queiroz he has to take out Ronaldo until he realizes that he's not bigger than the National Team. The future of Portugal in terms of players is somewhat bright, but one generation is ending so we need to find some players, but that would be kinda easy.

Do you remember Ronaldo in Euro 2004 and WC 2006 ? Different person.

What's Jose Mourinho got against the national team?

Nothing, he's said before he will coach us sometime in the future. But he won't be the next one or the following, probably...

I hope it isn't Jesualdo Ferreira, and Manuel Jose's name always seems to come up but I don't see much success with him either. I wouldn't mind seeing a foreign coach again, I had a lot of criticism of Scolari, but let's face it, we had some good results with him.

I can see the FPF choosing Sven Goran Eriksson if he wanted the job. He at least speaks Portuguese and has a history with our football.

I'd love to see Eriksson coaching us.

However, the real question is how the **** is it possible that Gilberto Madaíl and associated scumbags are still in the FPF??

It isn't just about this World Cup, it's been like this for years. If you guys remember correctly Queiróz after he left the last time (many years ago) said he was leaving but the "crap" was still there in the FPF, and now he had no problems when he came back for the AA team, being very well paid for that job. And again, the same people that were in the FPF are still there, so what does that make him?

I think it's enough for some of them, but they aren't even ashamed and won't resign anyway.

You're right too, I remember Queiróz saying that too to a journalist after the 0-1 loss to Italy before the WC in the USA.

Ramos looked like one of the best players when he was attacking, which is why he will continue to be praised by most, but he was nowhere to be found on any of Portugal's counter attacks. Defenders who join the attack have to scramble back to defense. Dani Alves does it every match and never looks tired after 90'. I've seen him slow to get back maybe 5-10 times in his career. Ramos is slow to get back 5-10 times a match. He's a diva and wants to score the goals.

edit:
Watch Ramos trot back slowly during the USA's first goal in the Confederations Cup. As a BONUS(!), watch Ramos put the second goal on a platter for Dempsey. He is far too irresponsible for a defender and I am worried that he will hurt us in this World Cup.

edit 2:
Ramos was also responsible for the only two goals that Spain conceded in Euro 2008, not counting our third group match where we played subs.
