Yes they've been more clinical but the BBC commentators were saying the scoreline was only normal overall. To not acknowledge the last two goals were almost direct repercussions of the equaliser not being given is pretty moronic. Not doubt we'd have played 2 at the back and Terry up front at 2-2 as well!

True, but you can also say that Germany controlled 85 minutes of the match. Both England goals were completely against the run of play.

Did the England players refuse the German jerseys? Like, they said "it's tradition, so we'll do the exchange, but I don't want yours, keep it". I'm confused why so many Germans are walking around with red uniforms in their hands and their own jersey on their back.

I only saw Gomez doing this. And if so....i wouldnt bother about it, its understandable after such an defeat. Its character. I wouldnt want any ******* jersey after this.

and what exactly makes you say that? their recent international track record? their performances at this World Cup? or is it their indefinable "potential" that has little rationality behind it?

They are better than this, maybe just not as a team man, but they certainly have good players.

Xifio;2897419 said:
if they were such staunch supporters of technology, or even goal-line refs, then they should have made a stronger effort to get the Europa League experiment carried forward into the World Cup ... but if they acted, it would be a reactive move, not proactive, which would indicate they would not have done so had Germany been the ones who were denied ... that sort of hyprocrisy, in my eyes, is more disgraceful than any officiating mistakes ...

what? dude I don't give a **** about the English, I'm just saying that was insanely wrong, and someone should put a definite stop to this kind of mistakes...

Goal or no goal England were not good enough. At least there's a good excuse rather than bottling it in a shootout.

If this young German team is this good now definitely good things to come from them.

TEH EPLs IS TEH BESTS...glad i got some ammo against the epl fanboys and their hatred of Serie A

BRAVO FIFA, once again you've proved your incompetence. It's also great to see another former JUVENTINI fail miserably...muawhahaha

They are good. But they are also very young and unexperienced. You could see that after the 2:1. Started to shake big time. But this result should bring confidence for the next games. Argentina probably....damn.:taz:

Well done, Germany! Major contender, as if Germany could ever not be considered contenders for the World Cup.

Credit to Low for making a huge turnover in the squad. He took a LOT of heat for leaving off guys like Westermann, Kuranyi, and even I had a go at him when he refused to call up Frings after the Ballack injury. I'm also sure it would have been easy to bring guys like Borowski and Hitzlsperger.

Well, the kids have succeeded and now Germany's well set up for the next 8 years. In 2002 it was considered a weak team and there were no kids coming through, and they still went to the Final. In 2010 it was considered a weak team, but very young. It's been said for a few years now, but truly this is a Golden Generation for Germany. If they don't win this year (probably won't), they have got to be the early favorites for 2014. Hell, the defense should be much improved if you consider Boateng, Badstuber, Hummels, and Lahm across the back.

They just need to find a striker. I'm told Ozil played up top for the U-21s.

He didnt leave Westermann. He got injured. Löw would have definitely taken him for starting lineup. Kuranyi is a jerk. Right decision.

how could anyone believe England will actually be favorites at this World Cup ? National Team of England is characterised by one word - pathetism and they can't get over their limited condition.

I am a genius

yeah, they have some good players in some positions ... but they are nowhere near as good as they think they are ... I made the point in the England National Team thread about the fact that a lot of fans think the English national team is a Premiership All-Star team, which, I'm sorry, it is not ... the English players in their respective clubs get as much hype because they are English, and the product needs local poster players to push the product as an English product ... buying into that hype is blind ignorance, as far as I am concerned ...

watching the replay, an accurate point is made in the studios by the panel that the linesman is supposed to be in line with the last defender to be in a position to make the offside call, which means he cannot be level with the goal-line ...

extra officials were introduced in the Europa League, and if the various associations wanted to see that carried into the World Cup, they should have spoken up ...

I thought the linesman had made a clanger, but that was not the case ... the linesman was exactly where he should have been; no way he could have made a definitive call if he could not be sure about it from his angle ...

That english national team is one of the biggest misterys in football. By names they should win any EC or WC in the past 10 years.

Great performance by the Germans, especially by Müller and Özil, but as ShearerM4 said, the equaliser would have changed everything on the game. England was dominating with good pressure, Germany was a bit nervous. The 2nd half would be completely different.

Also, don't think there's any more proof needed whether that team is really German or not.

lol, ******* efficient bastards :D Those two second half goals were absolute textbook stuff.

Steve McManaman made a good point just now about the 3rd goal: "This is 2-1! Why are we taking such chances at 2-1?!?"

It's not like it was a corner, Lamps was going to have a go at goal. Why put 8 men in the box?

Everyone knew Domenech was **** and Italy were old, what really surprised me this WC was England. My God.
Because you bought into the hype. England hasn't had a single impressive official match since maybe 2004 that would earn them consideration as a top tournament team.

The Lampard non-goal is the best thing that could have happened to England; now they have an excuse for being knocked out when the reality is that they were completely outplayed.

Steve McManaman and Jurgen Klinsmann here on ESPN have been pure class. Klinsmann at halftime: "The call was a travesty. Definitely should have been allowed."
McManaman after match: "We're simply not as good as we think we are." Truer words have never been spoken. Nice to hear it from an Englishman.

Only because English players are as overrated as the English NT and the EPL.

it's not really a mistery, they lack the winning spirit at their national NT they're a sort of Arsenal who always end by losing

That is also very true. At 55 or so minutes in looking at the game you'd have thought we were in injury time already.
