I don't :)

Pauleta would have scored that goal. Hell, even Postiga. 99% Figo's goal, great cross

The movements by Gomes were exactly the same as Pauleta, he just had a better chance.

and NG would have scored easily that goal in front of Kahn :jap:

for the third time Pauleta, when the team REALLY needed his finishing skills, simply vanished in a major competition (well he scored an hat-trick in 2002 i know), just look to Nuno Gomes historic in major competitions. when it real matters.

In theory, so would Pauleta

he kicked ass in 2000, but I remember him missing an umbelievable goal against Korea in the last minutes, in 2002 (the one he throws himself on the ground and misses completely)

Pauleta was not at his best this year, I don't deny that, but still he got 1 goal and 1 assist, each decisive. I think he was unlucky at times, and he also lacked some support from the other attackers

I don't think Nuno Gomes would have done better. And Pauleta IS a better finisher

I disagree man, but to each his own opinion..

I've always said that I thought Pauleta dissapeared against good opponents, but it's starting to be more a case of just plain dissapearing when he's most needed. Even in qualifying when we had that bad game at home against Lichtenstein, Pauleta put on a clinic on how to miss easy chances (:/) ...and even then it was NG who came in to save the day!

the fact is that we got to the semis of the world cup playing with 10 men and it's just not us that says that. Most of the foreign press thinks the same.

What matters here is not if he's a good finisher or not, but the fact that his style of play doesn't suit the big international tournaments and Nuno Gomes works much harder than him on the field and creates chances for other players even if not scoring.

Good point but apart from the Nuno Gomes goal, and Pauleta's sitter, what were the other Portuguese great scoring opportunities?

Thank god Kahn is only re-tiring from NT only. I'm glad I can still catch his games for Bayern. He showed his class last night as well. He was almost like a brick wall in that goal, making saves when he was losing his footing. He'll be greatly missed.

Now down the other end. Ricardo, last night proves, you can be legendary at saving penalties, but you've got too be good enough to get to penalties first.

Nuno Gomes Goal, Pauleta When Kahn Saved it, Pauleta when he turned and shot it with his left, deco when he got it turned and tried to put it top corner and it went wide, Ronaldo' Free Kick..

He made a meal of both free kicks. The tip over was an average save at best as was the shot from Podolski, he made it look good by flailing in the air afterwards.

Ricardo is and always was an average keeper. Fact.

Even before the WC he was considered by most to be one of this team's weaknesses. He had a good tournament overall and performed well in the PK shootout, I'll give him that, but Moreira_Benfica let's not pretend he's a great GK or anything.

So the "real" final has been played on Saturday, hasn't it ? ;)

I think Germany and Portugal are really happy about what they have reached in this tournament, so I think this game was a great finish of the Worldcup for them :)

Thanks Portugal, Thanks Germany, you two are two other "winners" of the Worldcup ;)

Congratz to Italy though, of course ... :)

My pleasure :) Its wonderful to see Ronaldo and Figo in such a buoyant mood considering all the garbage some of the press has thrown their way.
