I remember reading the book. Spielburg is really proving out to be an unpredictable director at times.

OMG do you guys go to school? This movie is based on novel War of the Worlds by the world famous H.G. Wells, who also wrote The Time Machine and The Invisible Man.

There are certain books like 1984, Pride and Prejudice, Lord of the Rings etc that everyone has heard of, even though lots havent read them or want to read them, and War of the Worlds is one of these. I dont fancy it too much myself, not being a Sci Fi fan, but I bet if you asked 100 people on the streets, only 10 wouldnt have heard of it, and 9 of them would exhibit distinctly chav like qualities. Mind you, it is probably different in Malaysia, this being a British book.

thats right. if wasn't the Lord of the Rings movies, i bet there are not more than 20% people malaysia know this story is from the book. this same apply to War of The Worls, after the movie show, the situation will be different

I so very much hope Spielberg doesn't turn this one into an Independence Day part II, with all the America rescues the world thing going on... The trailers sure remind me of it.
I loved the novel, in fact was one of the first books I've read, and would hate to be disappointed.

Spielberg had nothing to do with Jurassic Park III although I agree on the other two.

and he didnt make Evolution either, which wasnt a bad movie IMO

AI had great parts but overall it failed because of Haley Joel Osment and everybody being so fascinated by him
