Want your favorite team in a gameplay patch? Than read this!!!

Hi there,

I'm making a gameplay patch for Fifa 2003 and it's working out pretty good. You can download a copy of my new beta version soon. First beta is allready downloadable (link is at the end of this message).

I'm pretty satisfied with the general AI of the cpu at the moment, but the problem is that I haven't got the time to make individual AI-files for all the teams and the players at the moment. It just takes a lot of time to make and test them. That's why I'm posting this thread.

I'm actually searching for people that want to help making individual AI's for players and teams. So if you know something about football (that shouldn't be a problem normally :) ) and you want to help making some AI's for this patch, please let me know.

This is all you need to know to make some AI-files:
- you need to know how the players you're going to edit, play: how often does he dribbel, pass, make a special move, is the player an aggressive tackler or not, ... These kind of things.
- you must be able to type :D
- the teams or players should be in the original Fifa 2003, add teams can be given an AI too, but I'll not add custom teams to this patch. If you really want to edit the AI on those teams, you can add the files yourself afterwards (I'll explain you how than). It's just: an add player can have an ID in somebody's game, whereas the same ID can be used by an other add player in somebody else's game.

So if you want to edit some AI's (for your favorite team for example), please let me know. I'll send you some files which you can edit in notepad, together with some explanation how to edit the files and some examples (it's very easy so everyone is able to make AI's for a team, I'll explain what to do). Afterwards, send the files back to me and I'll add them to the patch, easy as that :)

This way, I'll save myself a lot of time and their will be more teams in it for everyone to enjoy!

BTW, I don't want to USE you guys to make my patch look great or something and run away with all the honours. NOT AT ALL! I just want to have a patch with as much players and teams in it as possible. Those who don't like my gameplay may not be interested in making AI's for this patch, and I understand this completely. Everybody's opinion should be respected, but those who like it, would love to see their favorite players play in this patch like they do in real life I think, so that's why I'm posting this thread. I just figured, this way, everyone has only a little bit of work to do and we could make a great patch with a great number of players' and teams' playing styles included. Also, I'm not rivalising with other gameplay patchers (like gante, sameer, sepakbola). I have great respect for all the people out there that are trying to make the game better and more enjoyable. I even want to coöperate with them to make the best gameplay possible. Just want to make the game better, for me, for you, for everybody. Let's say that I'll send all the AI's I recieve to Sameer, Sepakbola, Gante, ... too, or whoever wants it :) so I'm not getting the profits of your work alone. I just want every patch to be better. If I think Sepakbola's patch is better than mine, than I'll install that one and I'll try to make mine better, you see? I really don't want to be competitive. (Well, competitive, but not in a bad way) I'll give credit to everyone that helped creating AI's for a team! I'll release the patch under some common name like 'Universal gameplay patch' or something. I really don't want all the credits!

The first beta version is allready downloadable for you to judge. It includes a new shooting system, but I'll eventually release two final versions with and without the new system, so don't resign just because of the shooting system. You'll be able to have a normal shooting system too eventually. The new shooting system is also being tuned and will be better in the final version I hope.

Just remember: if a team is good in real life, it means there is a good balance between the players. Workers, creative players, passers, dribblers... Try to express that balance in your AI-files for the team. If you think that making supermans out of all the players and make them do special moves all the time will make your team play better, YOUR WRONG! Make it as close to the real thing as you can!

Oh, here is a link to the thread where you can download my patch. Also read the information on the shooting system maybe. It explains why the lobs are so low.

So if you're interested and wanting to help on this patch, please reply. If there are many positive reactions on this thread, I'll explain how I'm going to organize this and you can start editing than :)

Remember: you don't have to know sh*t about computers or programming! Everyone can edit 'ini'-files in notepad!

Hoping for a lot of replies. I'll be back tomorrow (H)

Greetz,

Yes

I don't know anything about programming, but your gameplay is very great (Fifa is definitely a different game with your patch) and I totally agree with your game "philosophy". I would be interested in doing Racing club Strasbourg, Birmingham City (but maybe there's someone from this city ready to do it), Wolverhampton (same remark than for Birmingham), Paris Saint Germain and AS Monaco. You are very right to insist on the balance between players, we should not make supermen but realistic players.

Ok guys, thanx alot allready, still waiting for more people to reply. If there are enough people that want to help with this, I'll start organizing things (I'll have to decide who gets which team) and let you all know about it.

It takes about an hour to edit a whole team I think. Just let me know if you want to help.

Thanx for the replies allready. I'll keep in touch!

I am just curious about the "ini.big" editing...

some people said ...if editing the AI... edit the file "aicpu"...

while some said...editing the "ini.big"...

who's right?

coz the original AI is so bad.

Thanks.

OK, I see it's not a big succes up till now, but I'll start to make preparations anyway. Some people trying to help is better than nobody so...

I'll just prepare the files to edit and send them to the people that reply here so I'm gonna need your e-mail adresses if you want to edit a team.

Give me another day and the files + explanation will be ready.

So everybody that wants to edit a team, post your e-mail + team you want to edit, and you'll get the files as soon as possible!

Let's make Fifa the way it should've been released in the first place, with personal AI for almost every team and player in the game! We can only make this possible if everybody helps a little bit. Every AI more in the game, makes it more realistic so c'mon guys.

For once let the gameplay be more important than the graphics in the game and make a team's AI! It's done 100 times quicker than a face or a boot and you can enjoy your own result by playing the game and not just looking at it :)

BTW, I'll try to edit some new teams too so maybe you can expect some new teams allready in the next version of the gameplay patch.

Greetz,
ikkenenderikke!

OK for me, I can do Strasbourg, Paris, Monaco, Birmingham, Wolverhampton. Waiting for your explanations. I am interested in doing more french and english teams in the future after those first, your gameplay is worth an effort!. Has the version of Word on our PC any importance? (I have still word 95).

You don't have to use Word, you'll have to use 'notepad', it's the standard 'txt'-editor in windows. Everybody has notepad so don't worry about that :)

I'll send you the files as quickly as possible! I'm working on the files and the explanations now so...

Thanx a lot for your help guys!

Hope others will join too :rockman:

We'll make the biggest AI update their 's ever been! (just dreaming out loud again :crazyboy: )

parmamiracle: you'll have to use EAGraph or BIGGui to open the aicpu.big and ini.big files. Then you can extract the *.ini - files from the big-files. It's the *.ini - files you need to edit. Afterwards you can import the ini-files back into the big files, again with EAGraph or BIGGui.

Hope this helps :) Feel free to ask for help at any time ;)

Thanks very much ikkenenderikke.

I downloaded your files (ini.big, aicpu, ikkenenderikke.fst)

and when I unzip 'em to the appropriate folders (following your instruction in your help file)

and I also installed

FifaCoach 1.1 (without update to the latest version)...

I upload your .fst to the "/fifacoach/formationset"
the result is...there's an error in when executing the fifa2003.exe

I know it's not the problems in your files... It maybe the problem of my FifaCoach 1.1(after I updated to the latest version... the FifaCoach doesn't work)

I would like to ask you how can I use your patch based on situations stated above?

I am pretty familiar with the playing styles of the Italian teams (both Serie A and some serie B teams, especially Parma)...that's why I would like to edit those teams' tactics.

Thank you very much for your help.

Hi, I have installed the EAGraphics Editor (1.0.3).

and I am able to extract the ai file(s) now...

do I use the "hex view" and then edit?

I have no idea on editing the binary values inside under the "hex view"...

thanks for your help.

If you want to edit the tactics of teams, you have to add files to the aicpu, not edit other values. I'll send you a copy of my 'tutorial' when it's finished.

Now, to extract the files:
You don't have to edit the files in EAGraph. This is what you should do. In EAGraph, open the ini.big file for example and click on the ai.ini file. When the ai.ini file is highlighted, you choose 'Extract' from the 'File-menu' or click directly on the extract button (see picture). Than choose a place to save the file. Afterwards, go to the file and edit the 'ini'-file in notepad. Save it and import it back into the ini.big file with EAGraph by opening the ini.big file and pressing the import button (see picture again). You'll get a dialog box with on the left side, the path of the ini.big file and on the right side you can add files to the list that should be added to the ini.big file, so simply add the ai.ini file and press continue.

You can do this with all the files in the ini.big file and the aicpu.big file. Just extract, open in notepad, safe again as *.ini and than import the files back to the correct *.big file.

Only the aiprop.ini can give some problems. If you click on it, you'll get an error, so select it by click on a file above it, and going down with the arrow keys.

Hope you understand everything now. Here's the pic:

Oh, and for the game that crashes. Install FifaCoach 2.0 maybe without first installing 1.0. Get the full version, no updates. Also look that the *.big-files are in the right folders!
If it still doesn't work, I'm affraid you're going to have to reinstall the game
Hope you can fix it.

You can get the ini.big editor (by Andy) from the ecp site as well. That allows you to open all the individual files in notepad, including the aiprop file.
