Want to know your thoughts on fifa 2004 and why it is/will be what ea made it

It seems like there has been a lot of negative comments about fifa 2004 and EA.

Everyone has thier own reasons for being so negative or positive towards EA and in certin cases rightfully so.

For me the thing that upsets me about fifa is that it just isn't as good as the rest. Other Ea sports games are at the top of their class. Madden 04, Nhl 04, and Nba Live 04 are solid games year in and year out, and with ESPN begining to produce great sports games as well it seems that EA keeps making their games better and better to try to compete with the competition.

But ofcourse soccer (or futeball depending on where your from) is a different story. Before their was no real competition for EA here in north america when it came to a soccer game. Some have tried but no one has put out a good game.

Every other EA sports game has a little more added to it every year making it a better game then the one of the past season. So why can't fifa be like this? I've said often that "FIFA HAS TO KEEP THE OLD AND FORGET ABOUT THE NEW" I miss the In door game and national team selection of Fifa 98 RTWC, I miss the mind altering number of teams and the customizable tournaments of Fifa 99, I miss the Qualifiying tournament and player editing of fifa 2002. Throw in the free kick system of 2003 and it would be a great soccer game.

But they don't keep these things. They put in and take out as they please leavin us to wonder what's in every years edition instead of us just being able to assume that it's in the games like in other EA sports games.

This season the selling point seems to be the Carrer mode which i'm sure was installed into the franchise due to the north american success of Winning Eleven 6.

So I'm hoppin that this year's edition will be different thanks to the game that is know here in north america as winning eleven. If what i understand is true then winning eleven sold very well here in north america and it seems to have converted a large number of fifa fans who were getting tired of not knowing if they were going to enjoy the game or not.

I myself am a fan of both but i will admit that i have never played fifa 03 again since i bought winning eleven because there was no need to. The way i see it if your want the graphics and online play u buy fifa and if you want a "true simulation game" then u buy winnin eleven, even though fifa claims it is the best simulation game, it's clearly not.

Maybe with Winning Eleven (and if perhaps Sega -espn- can make a good soccer game) fifa will finally treat their soccer franchise like all their other sports games and we will finally get the soccer game that we have been screaming and crying for, for to many years now.

Good old competition, maybe that will make fifa better.

All i know is that i am admitting that when i get off work tomorrow (use fed ex for all your shipping needs hehehe) then i am going to best buy and getting fifa 2004. but i will be wondering if i will be throwing my money away or not where as in february I will be buying winning eleven, a game that i know that i will deffinetly enjoy.

So i guess it's my fault cuz if i wouldn't give my money to EA they probably wouldn't be putting out the same "low calaber" game they do year after year. But I hope that everyone understands that i am so desperate for a quality soccer game from ea that i will go ahead and take the chance anyway (and only because fifa 04 has the portuguese league) since i dont want to wait another 4 months or so for winning eleven 7.

So please EA. step up to the plate and make fifa as good as all the rest of your games. I understand that there is not a large market here in north america but there is a despreate market and not only here but around the world.

Anyway just wanted to get all that off my chest since i still got 10 minutes till i leave for work lol.

so what are your thought's about EA and fifa 2004. I"b be really intrested to find out what other's think. Please go ahead and respond. - thanks

I agree with pretty much every thing you said. I also have not play my Fifa 2003 since I bought WE6. And I just hope that EA realizes that right now WE is a much better game than Fifa. Right now the only thing EA has going for them is the licenses. At this moment I don't know if I'll buy FIFA 2004.

Very mature post TReis82.
All complaints and PES vs FIFA comments aside....I don't understand why EA can't treat FIFA like thier other sports games (except rugby 2004)
I hope next year there is two very good soccer games.
