I'll watch my first WC matches tomorrow so I'm not really into the whole Vuvuzela hatred as of yet...judging by most of the comments here I'm pretty sure things will change 5 minutes into the Netherlands game though :(

I wonder what it will be like 20 years from now, when they're showing highlights of the greatest ever world cup goal, and instead of hearing the excitement of the crowd as it builds up all you can hear are those ******* vuvuzelas.

Just as I expected and predicted, tons of people are complaining about these annoying things. They really should be banned.

It boggles my mind trying to figure out what would inspire a person to blow on a goddamn horn for 90 minutes straight. Seems like you wouldn't even be able to enjoy the game. Not to mention making yourself and everyone around you deaf, and distracting the players.

There are just zero positives and infinite negatives about these things.

I do hope they'll somehow manage to ban them, at least for the final. I want to remember this WC for something else rather than this.

World Cup organisers say they will not ban vuvuzelas from stadiums in South Africa, despite numerous complaints.

Rich Mkhondo (a World Cup spokesman) also said vuvuzelas had worldwide appeal.

"Let us not make this a South Africa instrument alone," he said. "A vuvuzela is now an international instrument. People buy them and stuff them in their suitcase to go home.

"Only a minority are against vuvuzelas. You either love them or hate. We in South Africa love them."

I BEG TO DIFFER. Anyways, looks like they'll be staying. As a result, I am going to forget this World Cup very easily. It has simply been awful.

NO! It's like that guy said....you either love them or hate them. You love them. No disrespect but I hate them......regardless of which team is playing, I hate them.

That's kind of the point, we'd like to enjoy it.

If it really annoys you to the point that you can't enjoy a football match I think the problem is not the vuvuzela's, it's you paying too much attention to them.

Forza Suarez! (ps brotha can you spare a dime?)
After hearing 270 minutes of vuvuzelas today I can firmly say get rid of those things. Gave me a freaking headache, how dare those silly trumpet blowers.

I think if I was in the stadium my ears would be probably bleeding. But on TV it doesn't bother me at all. (Y)

They should do a study 25-30 years from now on the players who participated in this world cup on their hearing. I read in an article that a whole mass of those vuvezelas produces 130 decibels of noise, ten more than the ears can handle, ridiculous. Players will be deaf by the end of the tournament, fans too. It's not surprising that players are having trouble communicating on the field and as evidenced by the crappy play so far the noise obviously affects them and their play.

It's not just a problem of them being a bothering presence. More the fact that we don't get to hear any cheer or celebration of a goal, everything is just a flat monotone drone.
