PES3 is far better IMO. And I only play the game now for 10 minutes! I only now how to pass so far, but player movements etc. are far more realistic.:) (please help me with the buttons, see my thread)

My view on PES3

Gents (And Ladies if there are some in this forum:). Sorry for the long post but i HAD to give my personal view on this.

I have been a looooong time FIFA fan and i've been playing EA FIFA games since their release in 1998. I've been a FIFA fan not because i thought FIFA was the best football game in the world but because i had no choice as a PC user to play with FIFA if i wanted to play a descent soccer on my computer (i've always hated consoles so there were no ways for me to play soccer in other platforms than PCs).

I've been playing real Soccer/Football all my life since the age of 4. I've been playing in a number of countries and ligues so i know what soccer is all about. So from the gaming perspective i have always expected to re-create some of the magic moments of a real soccer game.... and i have to admit that with all the FIFA releases there was always something missing and i was never able to re-create realistic plays and goals exactly the way i wanted...everything seems to be soooo scripted... even on the FIFA 2004 demo which is an improvement and has some good things but still is not there yet...

Now on the other end, i had a chance to try and play extensively with the PES3 PC demo and WOW... what a change!!! Despites some technical issues that most of the people here had (slow-mo issues) that i manage to solve, i really LOVE this game. The way the players move, react, pass, run, shoot, drible is soooo close to reality, it amazes me....

Yes, FIFA does have the nice graphics, the nice teams, real names and all the flashy stuffs but when you come down to the gameplay, FIFA really is not at the same level as PES3. Nothing can beat the satisfaction you can get when scoring a perfectly realistic goal in PES3, or re-create some of the actions you had in real soccer games. This PES3 rocks guys - as close as the real thing as you can be from the gameplay side of it.

Just my 2 cents..

I read an appalling statement on the FIFA board that went along the lines of 'I played Fifa 04 during my lunch break while PES 3 played next to it. FIFA was far more realistic and fluid than PES! FIFA is no1! The greatest soccer game in the world just got better!'

I often wonder how it is remotely possible to live in a world of such delusion. I wouldn't touch FIFA 04 unless I saw it for a dime and then I would still trade it in after a week, just like I did with FIFA 2001,02 AND 03. FIFA is a joke.

that is a good point. I can understand that some people may not like pes3 and have no problem with that but to say fifa 04 is more realistic and fluid I just can't understand that. I mean I am playing we6i and that is more fluid and realistic than what i saw of the fifa 04 demo. I mean I scored a goal last night in we6i that you will never see in fifa.

I'm a convertee...... It took me a lot to download the PES3 demo, got it, played it twice..... what a revelation. I too always thought there was something missing in Fifa, but here, I feel I'm watching a football game and pressing the buttons to make the players react instead of shouting at the TV with all my guts!

When I nearly miss a goal I get nervous and get angry, it's like it's REAL football, realism is here.... What an experience!!!

Two main things have attached me to FIFA, the licenses and the graphics.... although I'm starting to think that now that PES3 is on the PC platform the level of customisation FIFA has will also be applicable to PES. I can see it, people making REAL rosters with real uniforms and editing it like hell (pretty much as the majority of things you see in the FIFA forum all the time).... when that happens this game will be simply PERFECT!!!

By the way, never played PES3 before, so can someone please tell me if it has national teams and leagues (and which?) like in the FIFA series?? Do you think it will be completely customisable?

It has about 40+ country. No Domestic league though.. it has a world club league instead. The club is mostly mid to top clubs from major european league and south america.

Believe me, the level of customization will be similar to FIFA It has been done in PS2 before, and the PC version use the same file type as PS2. So all the required editors and stuff can be found easily on the web.

It really is sad that people hasn't had the chance to realize this until now. Myself I threw FIFA away (ok then, I still play FIFARTWC 98 sometimes) after playing the PSX versions on an emulator. Even the PSX version is WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY ahead of FIFA in gameplay.
Now all you newcomers, spread the word and make PES for PC a success so that we can expect Konami to release their next versions for PC too!

Man, do you have a problem with Dutch guy's:kader:

BTW: one (bad) thing about PES3 IMO: Almost everytime I make a sliding tackle it's a foul:( And often even worse (red or yellow)

Tom

That Nice Guy
i know what you mean, they've tried to crack down on sliding tackles, as they arnt used as much in real life as they are on PES2. So on PES3 to stop people using them as much they have made them harder to do, with more punishment, i tend not to use it now.

Sliding tackles are difficult to pull off successfully, but then isn't that the skill of the game?

You can do them without getting penalised, but if you attempt one from the side it's difficult, and from behind = foul. But they are possible.

Play it like football.

Call it like *you* would if you were the ref.

It's football right? Not some arcade free-for-all.

aye..like many here, ive never had the pleasure of playing pes before this since im a pc gamer, so this really is an enlightening experience for me. been playing fifa year in year out while looking on in amusement at those who vehemently protest that fifa sucks eggs. lil did i know how much ive been missing. got the fifa04 demo, played for some time and went back to my tutorials. got the pes3 demo, played throughout the night and have already forgotten wots a tutorial :hello:

i managed to install iss3 along with my fifa demo and pes3 and i must say while ill be getting both fifa04 and pes3, im only looking forward to landing that pes3 copy more than anything else

thank you all
pes3 i love ya

I also have never played a PES game before, and the demo is quite good. However I dont see it being miles ahead of the FIFA 04 demo. PES3 has its own issues and perhaps they will be addressed but we'll have to see.

-sometimes players will not react to a pass and do not move when I try to control them to go to the ball.

-CPU is able to dribble much too easily (maybe I just suck at tackling but it seems a little to easy for the CPU :p)

-There is no way to challenge on a throw in. Whoever throws it in always gets possession. Not realistic.

-Fouls are called too much. Perhaps this can be adjusted in the full version, but I got some red cards for tackles that should not even be a yellow, so too easy to get a red card.

-How do you shoot along the ground with high power?
