Universal gameplay patch v1.0 released!

The new version of the ikkenenderikke gameplay patch is out! From now on named 'Universal gameplay patch', because I'm not working on it alone. Everyone is able to help, making it better!

The 'Universal gameplay patch v1.0' includes the following updates:
- choice between 'new' or 'old' shooting system
- edited ALL difficulty levels (now you can build your way up to World Class if it's
too hard in the beginning)
- improved the NEW SHOOTING SYSTEM a little bit
- keeper kicks the ball more instead of throwing
- keeper kicks further
- reduced aggression from defenders a bit => better organisation
- A.I. files for Strasbourg, AS Monaco, Paris Saint-Germain and Birmingham City,

(also some newly transferred players from Strasbourg are in it like Le Pen, Ismael, Farnerud)
- slightly improved A.I. for Real Madrid and Man. Utd

- other little improvements, but too much to mention



More A.I. updates are expected in the next few weeks so stay tuned. You can help to make some too, just sent me a PM or post in this thread.

Hi Ikk,

As I said before, my fifacoach doesn't work. I don't think I can edit the Parma's formation but I can edit the players and team's AI...

Also, Ikk, do you know how to make goal keeper better while they don't grab the ball but punch the ball out instead?

I think you'd better send me e-mails or PM me with all these questions, because they are only for me, so not everybody has to read them.

To answer your question: you can make the goalie better by changing the CPU_GOALIE_SKILL parameters in the cpudiff.ini file (it's in the aicpu.big file). To make the goalie punch the ball more, you can set FLAMBOYANT_MAX_CATCH_SPEED and CONSERVATIVE_MAX_CATCH_SPEED to lower values (ai.ini file) or you can play around with the Save determination parameters in the ai.ini file:
SAVE_SPEED_WEIGHT, SAVE_TRAVEL_WEIGHT,
SAVE_SKILL_WEIGHT, SAVE_DEFENCE_WEIGHT, SAVE_ATTACK_WEIGHT, SAVE_RANDOM_WEIGHT

To answer your previous question:
If you set IDC_POSITION_NUM_ATTACKERS to 2, the attackers will be more aggressive normally. But this will affect the entire squad. The value determines how many players will attack the player in possession. ATTENTION: this doesn't mean that the players will run all 4 of them to the player in possession when you fill in 4, but it means that the cpu will look at 4 possible players to attack the player. Basically: high values => cpu players will start to look at eachother and think "my teammate will take him so I'll just be lazy :) " and lower values will result in players struggling for every ball, without taking his teammates into account. If you set the value to be 1, the player will keep hunting the player in ballpossession :)

OK, that's one value you could change, but you could also make the attackers marking and looseball aggression higher than the values I gave you. These values were for an average for a whole team, but you could set the attackers higher so they start hunting sooner.

sorry, just a q, is there a wayfor me to score from long shots way outside the box without sacrificing the height of my lobs and crosses?
frm whatever position i shoot, the keeper always seems to get it at a comfortable height

I'm affraid that's a NO up till now. I'll try to find a way to accomplish this, but I'm affraid it's gonna be impossible :rolleyes: . It's just: every aspect I change to the shooting system, changes the lob system too. Maybe I'll try to make it so that when you shoot really hard, the ball goes low and when you shoot at a normal speed, the ball goes high, or the other way around, so you'll have the choice to shoot low or high, but I don't know if it's possible. It would be usefull if I knew the meaning of all the scalars in the aiprop.ini file. It's a process of trial and error for now so... Isn't there anybody who can contact EA about this and help us all out :crazyboy: :) ?

I've allready tried different things to let you choose between high and low shots, but nothing really works :(

If I can give you any suggestion: I noticed that when you run in one direction (say lateral over the pitch) and you shoot suddenly in an other direction (at goal normally :), so it's a 90 degree angle), the shot often stays low, but It's not a guarantee and it's very hard to aim your shot right this way. But you could try it maybe (:/)

Are you guys happy with the rest of the gameplay? Post some suggestions if you're not :)

But do you know what the "save determination" parameters mean?

does it mean ...the higher the weight, the better the goalie?

Ok guys, I've got some great news:

I've found a way to let you decide wether to shoot low or high! You'll have two different buttons for this now and it works like a charm! I also made shots less powerfull with the new shooting system (finally figured it out :) ) so they look better and more realistic. No more 'rocketballs'! Just have to tune the goalie again now. I'm not sure if the low shots are gonna work good without an analog controller, but I'll try to put it in that version too.

Headers are also more powerful, so you can score a corner with a header maybe (haven't scored yet, but only tried to score once with the head and it flew just over the crossbar so, I think it's possible). You'll still have to beat the computer to the ball offcourse, but when you do, you'll have a chance! I think that's a BIG improvement!

The computer also benefits a lot from the new changes I made so gameplay will become even more difficult. Next patch, I'll include a version in which the passing system is more difficult so it's harder to keep the ball (it's way too easy now IMO). (only for analog version I think)

Since I've only just released the previous version of the 'Universal patch', I have some time to work on this so expect some great improvements in the next version, with low shots, high shots and headers!

Keep up the GREAT work champ.

Your patches are the best by far. I am now having very low scores, and am finding it alot tougher. I have made the keeper alot harder, which suits my style. The only thing is that there are not that many offsides with the new patch, but all things considered this does not detract from what you have acheived here. The new high/low shooting sounds awesome. I look forward to your next release.

how You done those more powerful headers? and maybe You know whot to change in .big files for freekicks? in standard configuration computer can't score goal directly from freekick.

Great work ikk...seems like a new game now. Played with your new shooting system yesterday Brazil (me) v Cameroon (cpu). Cameroon started brightly, got a goal on 18 mins. From then on it was all Brazil, almost non-stop pressure. I couldn't turn the pressure into goals, but I was getting closer and closer with the new system. Then, on 88 mins, Cameroon split the Brazil defence apart on the break, and Wome had ghosted in unseen on the blind side. 2-0.:( .

To Seen: I don't know how to make the cpu score from freekicks (not yet :) ) but I'll try to figure it out although I don't think I can change that, but I'll try...

For the more powerfull headers, it was actually a surprise to me :)
You see, I was thinking, 'how can I make it so you can choose between low or high shots?' and I figured that if I made the 'troughpass-button' deliver more powerfull passes, it would be possible maybe to use it as a shoot button too. So I changed some values, made the passes more powerfull and as a surprise, the headers were more powerfull too so... :) I've figured out that you don't have to change the values in the aiprop file to make them more powerful. You'd better change the minimum and maximum pass distances for the player in the ai.ini file.

So now you can shoot low, head powerful and you're still able to pass the ball in a decent way (even better imo).
