You HAVE to play as England against Germany and record your best goal onto VHS (lasting no longer than 30 seconds) - you can only submit 1 goal. Problem is, I have some AMZING goals on my memory card and NONE of them are with England, I mean, why would I EVER play as England??????

It doesn't matter what level you play on but a team (includiing Konami reps) will judge on various factors of the goal. I played on Lv 3 in a 30 minute match just to see how it went, the closest to a good goal was Gary Neville nutmeging a German defender but then he shot wide. England are a VERY DULL team to use in PES, short of editing them all to have better stats I need some help in terms of best team, tactics, formations etc.

Beckhams weaknesses have already been discussed but I'm not impressed with Owen really (ha ha @ his ginger hair :crazyboy: ). The options are far more limited than my ML team (:p - I know!) or say Holland.

It would be so much better to allow an open competition, the best goals in PES all come naturally, or a freak one-off - hardly likely unless you play England v Germany 24hrs per day.

The othewr thing is the VHS recording, what are ytour thoughts on this? Would it be better to record the whole game, record the lead up to the goal using 2 VCR's the switch to the slow mo/matrix camera replay - just to ensure they see all the good bits???

You may as well edit the whole england teams stats, there's no way for them to find out if it's on VHS right? Does it say in the rules you CAN'T edit the stats? If so, you should do it, have a super england team.

Try playing a more attacking formation with England, I don't use them too often (I mostly play as Wales or Uruguay) but they do have some VERY good players - Owen is brilliant, as is Scholes, and once you get used to him you can move Beckham more inside rather than sticking him out on the wing. Also play Andy Cole up front with Owen because he's better at playing the ball along the floor and is still fairly big.

Try playing a 3-5-2 with Ferdinand, Campbell, and Brown at the back, Ashley Cole on the left wing (or Kieron Dyer - add him from Newcastle), Scholes inside left, Gerrard in the middle (set him as a DH), Beckham inside right, McManaman on the right wing. Cole and Owen up front. Stagger the midfield so Beckham and Scholes are higher up the pitch, with Gerrard in the middle but more behind them, and move the wingers up. You can really rack up the possesion and create some brilliant scoring chances. Also make sure you have Scholes doing a diagonal attacking run in the middle, and Beckham the same.

And yes it is only open to GB - and it's biased completely for England within that!

What magazine was that in? I usually play as England, but all my great goals have come when I've been Manchester in the ML.

Nevermind, I've just re-read the title to this thread. The Official UK PS2 mag. :: D'oh! :homer:
