UEFA Cup Thread 2006-2007

Well, the Portuguese media are doing the same, saying all 3 Portuguese teams got favourable draws.. I think the opposite, but we'll see I guess. We all know all that means sh!t until the teams step onto the field..

I like West Ham..I hope they can do their best..I know Nigel Reo-Coker and Lionel Morgan from FM..But i heard that Lionel Morgan leaved West Ham..Are they really good players in real life ?

You're thinking of Wimbledon, or MK Dons - where both Reo Coker and Morgan played together. Reo Coker came to West Ham with Jobi McAnuff and is now our captain (McAnuff left).

But now we have Tevez and Mascherano, so who knows what could happens against Palermo?

I think if the new players get a chance to gel in practice and on the pitch you will take out Palermo. It might be a bit too much to ask though seeing as the players just arrived like yesterday? We'll see.

heh, I remember when we played you in the UEFA Cup maybe 5 or 6 years ago and we knocked you out, I was so ecstatic :D. If there's one thing I remember from that match-up it's the excellent pitch you guys had, best I've ever seen.

Yeah, last time we were in Europe that. Didn't you knock out Boro or someone as well? That run was good because we had this awesome team and the Inter Toto final away leg at Metz that we won 3-1 was some of the best football I'd ever seen West Ham play.

Haha, I'm pumped up for this!

Nah, we got knocked out next round by Slavia Prague :kader:

To our advantage, Miko and McCann are out for Thursday against Sparta Prague. (Y)

However, we're struggling to put an 11 out there for the match. Anyone who had us down to win in the PL may want to revise that.

Well now that the nightmare of CL is done for Greece the nightmare of UEFA cup insues

1)Panathinaikos-5 players are out with a stomach virus

2)Atromitos-Sevilla too much for this team

3)SKODA-has hope

4)Iraklis-not even close to last year's team. Poor defense and needs luck to go through.

crazy game for skoda, that one finally finnished 4-3 for Dinamo, if they've got any hope for goin through they gotta keep dinamo from scoring in bucharest. Pana will win and I think Iraklis will escape Poland with a draw.

So far, Pana, Xanthi and Atromitos seems to have a disadvantage for the second leg. Iraklis suprised me after reading your comments.
I Think Pana and Iraklis will qualify to the next round.

To give some info from our teams,
Fenerbahce 2 Randers 1
AZ Alkmaar 3 Kayserispor 2
Besiktas 2 CSKA Sofia 0
Trabzonspor 2 Osasuna 2

Fenerbahce and Besiktas will qualify %90 ..
Kayseri has an advantage, if they can make 1-0, thats it for Alkmaar. i would think Kayserispor-Alkmaar second leg is going to be a fantastic game. its %50 chance for both teams.
Trabzonspor played behind closed doors against Osasuna, i think its a good result , considering they didnt have a single supporter in the stadium :)
They can still beat Osasuna, but ofcourse their chance is lower then Kayserispor..

Wow, romanian teams are doing great in Europe.
Dynamo Kyiv (Ukr) - Steaua Bucharest 1-4 (Champions League)
FC Xanthi (Gre) - Dinamo Bucharest 3-4 (UEFA)
FC Rapid Bucharest - FC National Madeira (Por) 1-0

Each year brings better performances from our clubs.
We're ranked 1st in country coefficients 2nd year in a row (we actually had the greatest coefficient at the end of last season ... 16,xxx). Now we have something like 6,333. We're threatening the positions of Germany and Portugal
http://www.xs4all.nl/~kassiesa/bert/uefa/data/method3/crank2007.html
(the coefficients don't include the results from tonight's UEFA Cup games...)
We'll have 4 teams in Europe next year (2 in CL, 2 in Uefa) and probably 6 teams in the season after that.
FORZA ROMANIA !!!

I just don't want us to improve faster than our infrastructure allows. Other than Steaua, no other team in Romania has a stadium which would be allowed in the CL. Can you imagine CL games in Cluj's 12,000 seater :fool:. I think it's good that the Bucharest clubs have done so well but I'm a little worried of what might happen if CFR Cluj/Poli Timisoara/Farul start to get into Europe. We'll end up losing points before you know it :boohoo:

I know ... but at least we can say we've been there :) On top :D
And i don't worry about CFR Cluj ... they reached the UEFA Intertoto final in the old format ... where they had to play 5-6 rounds to get there

Good, then their lack of depth will be exposed.

Frankfurt 4-0 Bröndby
2 pens and 2 red cards against the Danes who played more like a Rugby team.

Sion 0-0 Leverkusen
Some boring stuff, they should win the return leg at home.

Schalke 1-0 Nancy
Tough game against a well organized French team who have to do something in the second leg.

Hertha 2-2 Odense
 It won't be impossible to get a win in Denmark but god that was horrible.

We'll have to see about that, since we have 5-6 really good teams in our national league...
Steaua, Dinamo, Rapid, CFR Cluj, Farul Constanta maybe even Poli Timisoara (though i doubt Poli will do anything in european competitions)
