UEFA CUP Semi-Final 2nd Leg: CSKA Moskva vs Parma [P + R]

ForzaNerrazurri

Senior Squad
After a dull and boring first leg, which left both teams in a 0-0 stalemate, all eyes are on the Russian giants, as they have been great when playing at home. Parma goes into this game only allowing 1 goal throughout the knockout round, despite playing a weakened team, with their superstar forward Alberto Gilardino either sitting on the bench, or not playing at all, as well as their top Goalkeeper in Sebastien Frey, who is usually on the bench.

Once again, Parma coach Pietro Carmignani will most likely play a weak squad to rest players for their domestic Serie A battle with Roma on the weekend. Parma is floating just above the relegation zone, and need all they can to stay in Serie A. Gilardino could be on the bench for this one, and may come on in the 2nd half if needed.

Lineups will be posted when available.

Gilardino scored 4 at the weekend to help Parma win 6-4 (H) They should at least bench him in case they can win the game and need him. Parma are my third favourite team, i hope they can pull it off and play a strong lineup in the final to win. Cmon Parma :rockman:

Considering this games in Russia, and Parma is still in thick of relegation fight, i wouldnt be surprised if Gilardino, Morfeo, Bresciano and Simpicio even make the trip.

If Parma could eliminate Sevilla (3rd in Spain) and Stuttgart with weakened sides, i see no reason why they couldnt nab an away goal tommorow and go through.

I won't see the game so I will be unable to bash Parma's playstyle.

with the squads Parma puts out, even if they scored a goal and made a human fort around ball for rest of game you still couldnt really critisize them.

Don't bother with the PSV kid, hey Rob, did you read this thread????

Anyways... An interesting fact is if Parma does win the Uefa, which I don't think they will, personally I believe Sporting will take it. But if Parma win Uefa and get relegated from Seria A, we would have a Seria B team in the Uefa cup next season... Don't think that happens often.

Ditto to the PSV guy.

C'mon, Love. Make it a hat-trick.

CSKA Moscow 2-0 Parma

CSKA have been fantastic at home in Europe this season. I can't see Parma getting much at all in Russia, especially as they have their Serie A status to play for as well.
