Yes, they won 5 in a row. 1955–56, 1956–57, 1957–58, 1958–59, 1959–60. Although it was called the European Cup at that time I think.

Btw I think Barca are easier to beat this season. They're definitely not as good as last season.

I agree. If I had to put money on a team I'd probably pick Man U :(

Solid defense + Rooney. Plus I'd actually get decent odds, with Barcelona I'd probably bet $20 to win $1.

Hasn't Madrid done it?

yup ... Madrid actually won the first 5 tournaments ... Ajax won 3 in a row from '71 to '73, and Bayern did it immediately after from '74 to '76 ...

but since it became the Champions League, no one has successfully defended their trophy (let alone won it thrice on the bounce) ... but quite a few teams (especially in the early to mid 90s) made it to the final during their title defence, only to lose in the final ...

Guys, we should really bow down to Xifio information. How the hell you know everything?

I have no idea about that period. Some people say that Real was so strong and some say that the competition level was not that high. What do you know?

Both. Franco as the benefactor didn't hurt either.

Maybe we will never be that good again. Our form last year was near to perfection, the best in 110 years of history, so whenever you compare any team with the Barça of 2009, you'll always come to a conclusion that they are worse. :)

LOL, bull****. There have been plenty of teams to win a Treble, and your players aren't legends of the game just yet. 1972 Ajax was better.

Drogba sent off because he tries to break Motta's ankle. Stupid play, but Drogba was getting mugged all night and didn't get a single call. I can understand his frustration.

I don't think so ... but don't let the Italians hear you say that; they don't consider Inter to be Italian (their players certainly aren't), so they would consider that description of Inter an insult to Italian football past ...

Really? 'Cause what I saw was a team unable to beat the opposition's defence and then getting unstable in their own defence. Inter could've scored three or four. And don't say there were penalties and so forth, there were also a couple of bad calls against Inter...

Jose did what Jose does: win.

Don't worry, Chelsea, one London club is still good. Shame for you, they wear red.

Then come and beat us (H).

I just said it will be easier to beat you guys (compared to last season). But I didn't say you'll be easy to beat. In fact I hope we don't have to meet you guys in the CL.

I watched the Chelsea-Inter game and was a sublime pass by Sneider. He did what most players couldn't do throughout the whole game: that is to open up the defence.

The second half definitely was. Inter's opportunities were mostly from 1-2 guys on the counter attack, most of the team was behind the ball.
