pede54;2294994 said:The CL should be for EVERY Championship winning side in Europe, whatever country they may come from. Only the Champions of the League should be eligible and not the 2nd 3rd or 4th teams.
If a club can win the League in their respective country then they have earned the right to compete. Otherwise it is a competition open to just the elite and richest teams. Some people would prefer that but I would actually prefer to see many other teams in the competition whatever their "status".
As for TV money. The European cup always managed very well before all the TV companies hijacked football from all of us. Now football revolves around the TV companies.
This sport is about the teams and the players. The TV moguls should just do their job and televise the games, and UEFA and such need to take control of our game back and formulate the CL to suit the teams and the players, and NOT the TV companies.
So football might lose some money, big deal, but compared to the advantages to be had does that matter?
Anyway UEFA will do what UEFA will do, and as long as it's within European law then there is nothing that our opinions will ever change.

Not too great of an idea TBH, the later stages of the cup would be the same thing. It's not hard to see that some nations champion's would be crushed by the 2,3,4, place teams in Spain or other nations.
CarlosDanger;2295078 said:I think that would be the case at first, but eventually, with a little more distribution of money, we might see some more competitive sides. It could serve to raise the level of leagues in Europe.
Socrates;2295079 said:I think with the way football is right now ( with just some clubs having ****load's of money and the reputation ) they get the player's. Simple as that. Until they find a way to change it so that it won't work that way than it will not change.
Also as Hendrik posted, there would maybe be less money because well having a match that does not have 2 big teams playing against each other will get less attention and money.
bigp;2295115 said:While we're at it, let's expand the Euros to 32 teams so the smaller nations can get in on it.
jumbo;2295326 said:I don't see how this would cause less interest in the competition. The more variety, the better. Not the same bull**** over and over again. The 1/16 stage looks the same every single year. The UCL as it is now, is too predictable.
Anyone with half a brain knows that to sell a product, you need to advertise it. What's a better way to get the people in small country to watch the competition than by having their team play in it?
