Bayern miss Lucio, Ismael, Hargreaves, Deisler, Scholl and Podolski due to injury. Schweinsteiger is suspended, van Bommel is doubtful.

FC Bayern: Kahn - Sagnol, Demichelis, van Buyten, Lahm - van Bommel, Ottl, Salihamidzic - Pizarro, Makaay, Santa Cruz

Sporting: Ricardo - Abel, Tonel, Anderson Polga, Tello - Paredes - Nani, Joao Moutinho, Carlos Martins - Alecsandro, Liedson

I say 1-0 Bayern, this will be a tough match.

Inter is beating Spartak so if Sporting wants to fight for 2nd place they will have to get some points out of this game, at least tie so Inter dont get too far!

This will be a tough match for Sporting, they have quality but they have a lot of unexperienced kids and that usually makes the difference. Bayern plays home and experience is something they dont lack, they play confortably on 1st position of group and they wont leave it tonight for sure, the only point of advantge for Sporting is Bayern missing some important players!

I hope to see a good fair match and Sporting get a good result!

Sporting players too watch out: Moutinho, Nani (both U21) and Liedson!

I change my prediction to a draw, you can't win a football game without a proper midfield.

That´s Bayern´s midfield? Well Bayern is still favourite but perhaps a draw is a realistic goal for Sporting. At least Schweinsteinger isn´t there, we all know what that means when he plays portuguese teams.

Oh well, this depleted Bayern team was not good enough to beat a very average opponent. At least we're through.

Bayern's general lack of depth is a real worry. This midfield isn't competent enough to be starting in the bundesliga let alone the CL, Ottl in particular was just horrible, Santa Cruz barely lasted the first half and was obviously struggling in the 2nd yet Magath waited until the 80th minute to sub him off. The limited amount of gametime that some of those players have had was really telling. I think we have our work cut out for us trying to keep up with Bremen at home and some of the better competetion at the CL, especially if we keep losing more of the regular starters due injuries and other problems.

And no offence to Sporting fans but any top 10 bundesliga team could've done a better job against this Bayern squad tonight.

I think Sporting's performance was clearly hurt by their lack of confidence, which is a reflex of the string of poor results they're having lately. Players like Carlos Martins and Djalo were a shadow of themselves.
That's a shame, because if they couldn't beat this Bayern, they sure will never beat them.
