Fact of the matter is players of that quality should just let the football to the talking, there is simply no place in the game for diving.

UEFA need to come down hard on it.

Yeh Eboue could of got the ball and crossed it into Henry instead of diving, thats what frustrates me about it, there was no need for it. Instead of hitting the floor, he should of stood up and waited for one of the defenders to grab his shirt, it would of happened.

Least it didnt decide the match

Hey, diving is part of the game in Spain, why can Arsenal do it against spanish sides? I swear there is no middle ground with you guys. You tried to have Scotland arrested for being to physical (and this isn't a lie, they actually tried to get them arrested!) and now you string out an Arsenal player for playing the game like it's played in Spain.

These guys (Spanish players and Eboue) have one thing in common, they're as Catholic as they come and in the Catholic faith there is no higher honor than taking something that doesn't belong to you without it's owner (or husband) knowing, Maradona (a devout Catholic) said it himself "The best sex is the sex that is not allowed" (i.e. adultry, read: cheating). These guys give and then repent on the pitch by doing Hail Marys.

I'm proud that Arsenal made it as far as they did. No other team had to put up with what we did.

Oh, and I've been told Henry isn't going to Barca. It's between Arsenal and Milan now. You can thank Ronaldinho, he made a very nasty insult to him.

I'm gonna pretend you didn't write that.

I understand it has to hurt to lose a CL final, but I didn't know that it affected the brain.

The catholic part is the one I enjoyed the most.

TA's bottom line is right. UEFA should lead the way and start punishing heavily. Hopefully national bodies will take suit. If, in the first couple of games dives and even suspected dives were carded, then I guarantee people would start staying on their feet

Ive always thought governing bodies should have retroactive ability to review plays and assess cards after matches are over (i.e. essentially correcting a ref, who cannot see anything) as they do with things like spitting, etc. It wouldnt solve the matter in game, but when players start missing matches because of it, the problem will slowly stop

Its also an issue of pride, which is apparrently lacking in these types. I propose the SPL be broken up and one team sent to each European leauge to show how men play football. I know Bobby would support that. Bobo for Bundesliga player of the year

and I dont think the discord between Henry and Barca is that great: He was yucking it up with Ronaldinho, Eto'o, Giuly, etc after the match like they were his own teamates. I dont see how it could be that sour already

Funny.

I don't understand why Barça would want a selfish player like Henry to ruin their squad. Plus, he chokes in big games.

The ref should have given the goal, and a yellow to Lehmann for trying to avoid it.
everybody would be happy with the decision, and the game would have probably been a whole lot better.

btw Eboué should have been sent off after the challenge which brought him the yellow card, I don't know if someone mentioned it before as I didn't actually read the whole topic.

Arsenal gave a hell of a fight and were unlucky not to score the second goal which would have almost certainly sealed their win.
But Barça made the extra man count for the last minutes of the game, I was shocked to see Arsenal having no reaction what so ever after the equalizer, it's like the players were dead tired....I was expecting them to press way higher on the ground after the 2nd goal, the f'cking CL Cup was at stake ffs.
with no reaction from Arse, Barcelona just stood there circulating the ball till the final whistle was blown :nape:

Either way, kudos for Arsenal for holding on for so long, and congrats to Barça for never giving up. and for their win of course (Y)

entertaining final in the end, but man it could have been so much better had Hauge not f'cked up so soon in the match....

Maybe he was the worst player yesterday but he's done a great season. He's too slow though, he struggles against fast forwards.

On the other hand Belletti has been the worst player this season and he scored the winner.

We need a RB.

Personally I prefer Belletti to Oleguer, he didn't have a great season that's true but at least he does know what to do with ball when he's attacking.
Belletti f'cks up a bit too much defending though, yes.

I think Oleguer defends better, but as you said struggles against faster forwards and has no clue on how to make the defense-attack transition when the ball is on his side. he basically either passes the ball to the side or decides to kick a long ball forward.
His technique is really poor and that makes him be a nulity when he tries to help out on the attack.

For a RB that plays for Barça, he has too many flaws and his somewhat good defending is really not enough to get him off the hook if you ask me.

It's a nice thought with the cards, however it won't happen, and here is why.

Referees are on the high-end scale of stupid. So actually picking what is, and isn't a dive wouldn't be easy for them.

Second, a standard like that wouldn't be followed. You can be sure there would be a few ref's that would just not get the concept, and then they'd all revert back to the style of refereeing we're blessed with now.

I personally don't think Henry would come out and say what he did if there weren't a degree of truth to it. I remember his hissy fit against Newcastle, he was within his rights to be annoyed.

I couldn't stop laughing when he did that.

As a defender I do wonder how they manage to keep on rolling for so long...

If you say henry choked, then ronaldinho choked big time, all he did was try to do his moves and get tackled everytime.

Oh Christ. It was not offside at all. You and Wenger are the only people alive that think so, and he didnt see it

and they took away Barca's first so you might say that they gave you a leg up, no pun for old Jens intended

I agree with most of your points there. I think it would be much more effective to have punishments doled out upon review, though, again, that gets sticky
