Two Lightwave Anims Here --

The Drovers Dog

Reserve Team
Here are a couple of Key Frame anims that got knocked up with Lightwave -- The balloon anim was an idea from that Warcraft game IE:> Those Goblin dudes who flew around the map in those weird flying machines --

The Water anim was just a mess around with motion paths, plugins and the camera, but it still looks pretty effective --

I can't get to your site.:( Keeps on giving me this freepages error.:( I use Lightwave also. How long have you been using Lightwave?

Mmmm, i just checked the link and i was there in no time -- I have been messing around with Lightwave for about 3 years on and off, but with me it is a mood thing with graphics, sometimes i get into it and produce some great results, and then the other times i usually turn out a pile of junk. I find that the modeler in Lightwave can be very frustrating at times, 'specially when you are trying to design some weird and strange objects --
......................................................................................................
I just tried hotlinking to the zip files from here, but it looks as tho' they have put a block on that trick -- Anyway, just keep trying and you should get there --
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Haaaa, sorted, just copy and paste the links below here into the address bar in your browser, it works for me, so you should be ok --

Whatsup boys, don't be scared off by some Hardcore 3d animation\imaging, lets have some feedback about the 3D stuff that you might be trying out --

There is far more to Garphics design than the easy cut and paste stuff -- and if you don't try it, you will never master it hey --:)

whoaa, EASY cut and paste stuff? I don't agree with that...there's a lot more to "good" 2D graphics then just 'cut and paste'...

Fair enough, there is some very good 2d stuff, but how was it done? I havn't noticed any 2d 'Freehand' graphics posted in these forums, they all mainly look like small background pics with small logos or cut out or text scrolled across the pic, and the couple or so that i have posted as sigs are the same, i am totaly useless at freehand drawing, so if there are any 'quallity' genuine freehand sig pics in here, could you point me to them, 'cos honestly i must have missed something --
........................................................................................................
Don't get me wrong but i prefer to work with the true 3d motion graphics, they present a better and more realistic display if done properly. IE:> Using lighting effects, plugins, object or light motion paths, camera etc, etc. which you can't seem get to a 100% realistic presentation in the 2d format, in other words 2d is more often a psuedo 3d effect that is achieved by using tricks like reflections with drop shadows, shades and shaded reflections etc etc etc . and yes, some of them do look ok, but to me they will never be in the same category or class that true 3d presents.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
You only have to take note of the progress in the gaming world as it has developed from a basic flat presentation, to what i term as psuedo 2d and now its to the stage where we are getting mindblowing, realistic 3d Engine Designed Games -- You only have to take a look at a game like the amazing Morrowind to see what i am getting at :)

I don't think we're talking about the same thing here...just because something wasn't done freehand doesn't mean it isn't good. A lot of 2D graphic design is more about colour and composition.... I'm also not talking about 3D game creation, obviously that kind of thing is better than 2D, talk about pointing out the obvious. They're two completely different disciplines..

You also shouldn't diss people's sigs here, the majority of people here aren't pros, and not trying to be. I'm sure they also put a lot more work into them than it might appear to you on the surface...look at my sig for example, probably looks like a cut and paste job to you, but the original pic was 800 x 600 in size and completely different colours. There was a lot of behind the scenes photo-manip work done to it that people wouldn't see on the surface. Not to mention it's not that easy to reduce something to 1/20 of it's original size and keep the same quality, or even improve on it.

Whatever though, I'm not totally ignorant when it comes to graphics and I know exactly how difficult 3D programs are to work with, especially Lightwave and Maya. I also realize that a program like Photoshop is dead easy compared to them, I'm just saying that different types of projects require different types of graphics...like if you had to make a business card then 2D vectors would be the way to go, not 3D.

Hmmm Drover, that's a little rough.:( 3D CG and 2D work are two very special things in their own little way. Some 2D artists can portray such emotion in 2D graphics. Some people can turn a picture of Laura Ingalls of the Little House On The Prarie into a Sci-Fi queen of doom with fancy wires and evil glowing eyes. It's all in the mind. Something doesn't always have to be in motion and in 3 Dimentions to be art. About those sigs, be easy man. We all were once so. I remember my first sig:3 pcitures just scaled down and put next to eac other with my name in an Arial font(ugghhh!!
:) )
The point is, not everyone has the time or patience to sit down and learn about 3D Animation, different people have different preferences.

what are u on about ??

the reason u haven't seen any good 2d stuff created from scratch on this forum is that this is basically a SOCCER FORUM. and not too many people come here to flaunt their art

I swear....post comments like this on DA and u'll be ripped to shreads.

Anyway....ur work is good considering ur using Lightwave.....

u'd get far superior results if u use Maya....i really tell ya !

i thought 3DsMax was great till i used Maya...and now i'll never use 3Ds again.

i ask myself the question "How could i live without 3d paint effects for so long?"

And yea.....heres a small example of the stuff u can do with maya ;)

this is one i had done a while back

Dude. You can do that in any other program(I think). That looks like a lathed bottle and a lathed cap. Is Maya a NURBS based modeller?
