Two Installations of PES 5: What About the Option File??

steady teddy

OK,
I just installed the PES 5 Superpatch but I made a FULL backup of PES 5 to another folder and I followed the directions for two installations given here for PES 4.

But since the Option Files are now in the My Documents folder instead of the PES folder like they were last year, is there an easier way to use the proper option file for each? Or would I have to manually overwrite each option file before I play? Can I get PES to point to the proper option file?

And the reason I kept the original PES 5 is cause I didn't want change anything else in it so I can continue to play online without any hassles.

Thanks in advance

I suppose that the option file directory must be somewhere in the registry, and also there must be something inside de pes5.exe file.

I'm at work right know, but I'll try to do something when I get back home.

Hex edit one of the exes and look for the default option file name (KONAMI-WIN32PES5OPT) and edit it.

That should be the way...

I'll see if I can help you when I get back home and I'll post the step by step solution, of course, if I find one...

Step by step

1) Search this folder in the registry

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/KONAMIPES5/PES5

Duplicate the "installdir" chain value, and call it "installdir2". Now select the directory where you have the patched version and change the value of the chain.

2) Hex edit the exe file: search for the text/string "/save" you will find a Hex value "6500", you should change it to "6532" this will change the default save folder from "save" to "save2"

3) search for the text/string "/installdir" you will find a Hex value "0000" just after a "6972", you should change it to "3200" this will change the default installation folder from "installdir" to "installdir2" (the one we selected in the registry).

4) Duplicate the save folder inside "My documents\KONAMI\Pro Evolution Soccer 5\" and rename it to "save2". Replace the option files inside the "save2\folder1\" folder whith the ones that came on the patch.

That should work.

Good luck.

If there's an easier way, let me know.

Also, if you need further assistance, let me know too.
