As a regular FIFA PC player, I have to express my disappointment at the latest installment.
The gameplay is simply atrocious and unrealistic - the ball darts around like a pinball and it is often a matter of luck if a pass or shot is successful. Hera are a list of gripes:
AI - terrible. Using the new off the ball feature, I try and pick out the player I want, but very often you cannot, he is not 1 of the 3 available players.
Random refereeing - yellow cards dished out for no reason, severe tackles go unpunished.
Awful interface - This is unbelievable - how bad are the menus? Designed by the blind for the blind, the quality is simply disgusting. For example, the final screen before a game lists the 2 line-ups - but you can only see 9 players.
Team management - Clunky and a lot of effort to swap players around - you often just want to forget it and get on with the game. But this defeats the whole object of Team Management surely?
Prestige points? What???????????!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Transfer window - admittedly I don't know much about FIFA's transfer system, but when I try to buy players I get the message 'Transfer window closed.' Fair enough, but shouldnt there be a message saying that the window is about to close?
Corners/free kicks - Many people have already said this - but if the foul is committed on the wing, then very often you can only shoot!!! Atrocious design. And as for the corners, these are like mini-games which bare little resemblance to the real game. They feel isolated from the match action. Good idea but dubious execution.
God, thats it for now.
Make sure you do the only sensible thing - get your money back and get Pro Evolution.
Its the first time PE has been launched on PC - and EA have had tons of attempts to perfect FIFA!!
What a joke! Konami have got it right first time, its absolutely superb.
FIFA 2004? No thanks, exit to windows. (If you can be bothered to find that option in the menus!!!)
