I recently came across something that i at first thought was complete coincidence, but in fact realized is an insight into how the Computer thinks about rejecting/accepting trades!
So, i'm Oxford United, beginning Third season now, won every cup both of the first two seasons, at 5 stars with only 70 skill players at most. First Season had 1000 Prestige Points, 2 Million to spend. Second, boosted up to 4500 Prestige, 5 Million. Third season, 6000 Prestige, 6.5 Million. Is this normal to everyone else? Not as significant an increase from the 2nd to that 3rd season, but anyway
So, i tried buying Ono and McManaman between 1st and 2nd season. Then tried buying Okon and Guti between 2nd and 3rd. Found the same pattern. If you try placing bids during the offseason ( those 8 weeks until the season starts, you'll see what i mean when you reach your second season), it is so much harder to get acceptances on offers than when the season has begun. I think everyone figured this out?
Heres the neat thing i discovered: When i play and win my first game, and try to offer 2.3 million for Okon, a 1.6 millioner i think, i get rejected. HOWEVER, if i simulate my first game, lose it, and offer only 1.7 million for him, only .1 million more, its accepted!!
I got cocky and tried getting Guti during that week, rejected all the way up to 1 million over the price. So, i restarted, got Okon the same way, and then waited a week, offered only .1 million over Guti's price, and bam, accepted!! the exact same thing happened to me when i got Ono and McManaman as well, its awesome.
So, use the 8 weeks between seasons to train your players, actually probably better to train your not so great players that you got stuck with so that other teams will buy them higher.
Then simulate your first game, you'll probably lose, or lose i guess on purpose...lol....never tried that though....offer .1 over the asking price of the player, and you got him, partially because i think the computer doesn't mind giving its player to a less successful team?
Then wait a week, simulate again (lose), offer for the next player, only .1 above. Works. I think the computer doesn't like giving away too many players in the same week for great deals?
Know that i've only tried with players at 2.5 million worth or less, dont' go trying this on Ronaldo or Henry , and it only worked when i simulated and lost, and i'm with Oxford United, 3rd division originally, dunno if that makes a diff?
Lemme know if it works for anyone else!!
If .1 doesn't work, be generous and do .2
