Can you please tell me the negative aspects of PES3/WE7? I mean, we all know its as real as a soccer game can get but what are some of the bad things? I'm planning to buy this game when it comes to the States so i'd like to get some feed-back from you guys.

Thanx

1. some AI issues, nothing major
2. small stutter bug for some, not for me
3. players getting locked in a run, easily fixed by super cancel feature

there are some others, but I find it 99.9% perfect because I hardly ever play against AI...multiplayer baby !

cpu takes control of the guy you're supposed to be controlling too much

many cpu cheats - too many to mention

limited AI

referees clearly biased in favour of cpu team

poor implentation of "advantage" rule and hand-ball

red cards incorrectly shown for inocuous trips in midfield

poor range of options - very limited range of custom tournaments, you cannot replicate any real world football competition

no real career mode

Master League is a mess

far too few teams

AI teams plays players in wrong positions in Master League

limited environmental conditions (not enough range of weather conditions, no wind, all pitches play the same and are the same size)

no referee or assistants on pitch

Jesus...

-not true
-CPU only "cheats" when it comes to the ref ,and that's something that happens daily.Refs aren't neutral.
-Agreed.The CPU on 5* is easy.Should've been a lot harder.
Refs are sometimes biased in favour of your team.I've seen it happen.Refs sometime help me out and screw the opponent. They usually help the home side.
-Handball is ok ,but advantage sucks.
-There are no rules for send-off's.Again ,it depends on who the ref is for. It's like that in reality.
-You have the League mode and the Konami cup.You can do whatever you like with the Kon Cup.What more do you need. Also ,you've got real competitions in ML:WEFA Champ-CL and Masters-UEFA Cup.
-WTF for? You've got a ML club to manage for as long as you like. You've got team history log ,player training. This isn't a manager game but the management parts are great. This isn't Tony Hawk where you have a career.
-ML is awesome.64 clubs ,4 1st Divisions ,1 2nd Div ,4 1st Div Cups and one 2nd Div Cup ,+ WEFA Championship and Masters Cup which depends on qualification. The ML has never been better.
-Far too few?
-What makes you think that?It could happen if you swapped players between clubs using Free Transfer opt. Then you could have a mess which would be your fault.
-There's a lot to choose from in Environmental cond. The weather opts should have been more precise ,yes (snow ,wind...).Should pitches be different? They all look different but it would suck of they were difficult to play on.Pitches change when raining ,but it would really be awful if you had to adjust to every single field in the game.
Size-the pitch size should be the same but I guess stadiums as a whole should have been in various sizes.
-I haven't seen a ref actually on the field during gameplay but that is something that I have also never seen in any game so that can't be considered a con because it has not been in footy games yet.At least not to my knowledge.

Overall ,it seems like PES3 has a lot of cons but we just go into details.

The game is as close as it gets to reality. It's almost perfect and if you're gonna buy a game ,then this is the obvious choice.

1. no....sorry man, haven't seen this
2. maybe, don't play against CPU often, but play enough not o agree fully.
3. sometimes, sometimes clearly in favour of the player.
4. partially agree...handballs happen too often.
5. rarely, very rarely
6. yeah, no real competitoons except the Chanps league, UEFA Cup, World Cup, European Championships etc. you're flat wrong here.
7. master league is sort of that...but if there was a carrer you have to have aging players and retired players and a whole heap of new players to take their place etc. I really don't care for this, CM is ok for this sort of thing.
8. there's 64 clubs and heaps of National teams, I don't fancy playing anything with FC Utrenheimerhan from the Getman 5th division, I'd rather have fewer teams who actually play like their counterparts.

rest true....

I agree with most of what he said:)

Also another thing to add is that the werid ass things the goalie does:f***: goalies are stupid as hell in this game.

yeah, no real competitoons except the Chanps league, UEFA Cup, World Cup, European Championships etc. you're flat wrong here.

Champions' League has a group format where you play home and away ties - PES does not have this (nor does it have the qualifying rounds)

UEFA cup is 2-legged rounds and a one-legged final - PES does not have this (nor does it have the qualifying rounds)

World Cup is a huge competition consisting of many qualifying stages - PES does not allow you to replicate this (granted, it does allow you to play the Finals but only the Finals which is only one small part of the whole tournament)

Euro Championships - same as World Cup and you cannot even play the current Finals as the game does not have Latvia

I am flat correct here - get your facts right.

"teams that play like their counterparts"

haha, good one, can i have some of what you've been smoking

maybe a handful of players look distinguishable, the vast majority are just generic players made up of various attributes and the teams likewise

1) too easy,on 5 stars ive never lost a cup match or european match
2) Blatant advantages to computer i.e. u get fatigue, computer players dont. If u are winning say 1-0 and its the 80th the ref will blow his whistle for anything.
3) season is too short only 26 games in the league.
4) LOl this next point has always got on my nerves when u are playing at home your flag should always be first on the scoreboard, but after half time they switch round, which isnt a realistic TV coverage like scorboard.

Apart from these flaws, the game is near perfection,if every game was perfect things would get boring and we wouldnt have anything to look forward too.

so you're wrong...as I said. You can replicate the Euro Champs finals and the WC finals....

I don't know which game you're playing man, but after hundreds of hours of multiplayer, we know exactly which team can do what and how to play with the teams we chose. Its plain as daylight to us, maybe you have nobody to play with so you have to play against the AI all the time, too bad. The game is much better with some friends who are as good as you are.

Amen to that.

Playing with friends is 10 times better than playing against the AI.

It's even better when you're trashing someone 9-3...Yeah ,that happened in PES3.A buddy of mine had a really ,really bad day so I kinda made it worse.Every shot went in.LOL.
Seriously ,multiplayer is PES' strongest side.

I am a Barca fan and I never use another team other than Barca.
So I know how to play with them and I know who should do what and when.I got used to the team and I couldn't do better with any other team.Same with the rest of my friends. It's just the way it is.
If someone can't get used to their team ,then I really don't know what to say except leave the game alone.

OK here's what I think:

- Advantage and Hand ball are badly implemented. Lots of room for improvement there.

- It has last year's lineups but that's easily fixed with the patches.

- You need a hardcore PC to run it. Although I'm running it now 95% fine with my GeForce 4 MX using 3d Analyzer.

- Training growth players in ML (Master League) is too easy, you can easily turn them into Zidanes or Henrys.

- Players not ageing/retiring in ML.

- Don't know about the others but overall I find the game a bit too easy, even with the ML default team. IMO a 6* level would be perfect.

- Refereeing needs lots of improvement, I often make 100% clean tackles and completely take the ball (You know, the kind of tackle that feels better than sex.. I do them all the time IRL ;)) but the referee blows for a foul.

- Sometimes you get booked for a foul even though you haven't even touched the X or O button.

- I'd like to see more teams and authenticity (Like the full Serie A for example)

- The Sidestep is far too effective and I can often dribble my way around 3-4 defenders even with players like Ximelez and Minanda (Default ML players).

- Stepovers are useless, as soon as you attempt one the ball gets stolen right away.

Apart from those minor issues, the game is near perfection. :)

Something nobody mentioned...

I don't know if you haven't noticed this and just don't want to mention it or what, but the offside detection is really screwed up in this game... there were no problems like this in WE 2002 for PS1, though.

I'll give an example of what I'm saying: Suppose you have 2 strikers running forwards, one with the ball, and these two strikers are both ahead of the defenders... now suppose you shoot, the ball bounces off the keeper, or the post, and your other player grabs it to strike a sure goal- oh, wait... that's an offside, says the CPU... :o :f***:

And yeah, I get this A LOT. I've got used to it, anyway, but it has made me smash the desk a couple of times!

PES3 > PES2

It's a moot point though, as you cannot get PES2 for PC, so you are stuck with PES3 (which isn't a bad thing).

As for the rest, I agree that playing against another equally skilled human opponent is the best way to play the game.

I'm quite sure that if this happens IRL the second strikers gets called offside. (If he was in front of the first striker when he took the shot of course).
