Time to stop new registrations

I know I've suggested it before and the idea is a bit outrageous but with most new registrants lately either being spammers, advertisers or complete idiots (like per75005 the racist) I reckon new registrations should be blocked, or at least have admin approval

Admin approval wouldn't do much good, as many spammers have names that don't exclude proper use. People could start writing application letters I guess

I guess a written application to be a member of the forums could be the only workable way to sort this out, particularly as most of the spambots use auto-generated e-mail addresses to register. I'm not saying SG should be a "closed shop" but something close to it, just to eradicate much of this nonsense.

Dude, you will always have spammers and morons on any forum. Just ignore it and don't be so bothered about it.
