This game is great

I have been playing games and especially sports games on the PC for about 10 years. I use to play Fifa, but no more. Some of the posts I am reading are quite laughable on attacking PES and saying how FIFA is the best soccer game. There was even one post asking what PES has over Fifa. The difference is like night and day. These people are entitled to their opinion, but they are either blind or on drugs not to see how much better PES is than Fifa ever was. Oh well, what ever turns the gamer on. I do not want to waste my time with Fifa when I can play PES.

Some items of note that I have picked up in the demo after three weeks are:

1. I am willing to bet that each team in the full version will play a different style. It seems that the computer adjusts the stlyle of play too based on the circumstances that occurr during the match.

2. Personally I think the graphics are very good in this game and I actually like them. When it rains you actually see the players splashing around. I have also seen players that were injured carried off on stretches and sometimes they just are hurt for a moment and still continue playing. It is so real. During winter play the field is colder so the fans are dressed in winter gear and since the field is harder the ball acts much faster than it would be in the rain. What great physics of the way the ball acts with the players and field depending on conditions. They really spent time programming these things and were not lazy and that is most refreshing.

3.There are so many different ways to score yet you feel so gratified when you do score because you know that you really worked hard for that goal. Hopefully there can be a bit more enthusiasm when the players do manage to score.

4. It looks like you will be able to edit almost everything in the game and PES is rich in features.

5. The game is just flat out fun to play and it still retains its realistic ways. Infact this is the most realistic sports game I have seen. I usually do not play demos for long, but with all the enhancements and especially the realistic gameplay I cannot put it down. I suppose that I played the Fifa series for too long, but the game just brings you in for one more match to see how you will do. I am not a PES fan boy but I have to be fair. The game to me is the most fun I have had playing a sports game and it is a great blend of realistic sim and arcade like features all rolled into one package.

With that said there is always some room for improvement:

1. I have been using the wide view for camera settings, but I am not totally happy with this view or the other views in the game. I want to see more of the field of play and be able to zoom out a bit more.

2. The crowd reaction is fine when you are on the attack, but when the other team is on the attack there is no crowd reaction at all especially when they score. Hopefully this is correctable. I do not know about the commentary, but I just turn it off normally anyhow with games so I really do not care how good it is.

Other than that I am very satisfiesd with how the game plays and I cannot wait to play the full version and for all the patch work to come out to enhance our PES experience from some of the talent right here on this forum. I actually rate it a 9.5

The bottom line is that Fifa is the run-down Cheverolet with flat tires that needs a paint job, but you know nothing will make it better and PES is the very expensive BMW that you are proud of that looks and rides great. I very rarely call games great, but I cannot wait to get my hands on this gem.

you should set the crowd to "neutral" (instead of "home and away") in the settings menu. don't remember if the demo has it, but the final version will surely have it. you can also determine the number of "player" and "CPU" fans on a scale of 1 to 3 in that same menu. i usually use 3 stars for my team, 2 stars CPU team.

leave the commentary off. it's crap. the most annoying part about it is the moralist babble when you commit a heavy slight tackle and receive a red card. that's when Konami obviously feels pressed to fill an education role and be your Ersatz-father.

good and well-written post, BTW.

I totally agree with you, especially n°5. I've been playing football games on computers for 15 years (Match Day, Kick Off, Goal!, Sensible Soccer, FIFAs... :crazyboy: ) and I've just discovered PES with the demo. It's by far my favourite football game ever, the first one I've seen with a gameplay good enough to make the actions look like real football.

Great points guys. This is THE best sports game I have ever played. I play a lot of football(American) and Basketball games. But PES3 is easily the greatest sports game I've played. No other game simulates the actual sport better than PES3.

I would pay $60 bux for this game....good thing I only have to pay $30 :D
