The way the CPU AI score their goals is utter BS

Playing on world class level, the way I'm conceding goals is just ridiculous. In PES (or any other half-decent footie game), I concede goals either because of a lapse in concentration when I defend, CPU successfully breaking the offside trap, mis-timed tackles etc... i.e. all the reasons why teams concede goals in REAL football.
In FIFA 2005, however, there's absolutely nothing I can do in most of the goals I'm conceding... how the hell can a 2nd division striker receive the ball just inside the penalty box, surrounded by 3 or 4 perfectly-positioned defenders, and curl it past the keeper (even with his wrong foot!!) into the top corner with a success rate of 99%???
Another BS way of conceding is CPU crosses, it seems that whether or not my defenders can get to the ball first is just a question of pure luck... regardless of the fact that there's only ONE striker in the box tightly marked by at least 2 defenders.

Many many complaints about this game on this board. (Positives too, but they don't get rid of all these negatives).

With so many people agreeing on being disappointed with this game, SOMETHING they are saying (including me) must be right.

My suggestion to you, play "the other soccer game".

Well there are a couple of reasons why I wanted to try out this game

1- PES3 has become too easy for me, I just finished a custom league on 5* against the best European sides with a record of 29-0-1, so I thought I'd give this FIFA a try while I'm waiting for PES4.

2- I've played every FIFA since 97 and after the disappointment of the last couple of years I thought maybe EA will get this one right... well I'm sad to say that I was wrong, very wrong.

Don't get me wrong, I sincerely hope that EA can eventually come up with a game that actually plays like real football because the FIFA series still holds a place in my heart.

Omg, same here, I've said in the past that I hope EA pumps out a great game. But I haven't seen it done yet.

I'm sorry, but that's a crock because the same exact things DO happen in PES. The computer cheats in that game more than any other game i've every played. Period.

Supporting your statement with an example would be helpful.

Anyway, if I play a PES match against a 5* Real Madrid or Arsenal with 100% concentration (especially on the defensive side) I usually have no problems keeping a clean sheet. That's because I apply the exact same methods I use when I play football IRL (as a defender) e.g. keeping the team disciplined, knowing when to commit myself to a tackle and when to hold my ground, knowing how to contain an opponent etc...

Now that just doesn't work with FIFA... in certain situations just when I think "Ok I got this guy covered, IRL there's absolutely NO WAY he can score from that position" Boom! he manages to squeeze in a shot that somehow finds its way to the top corner 99% of the time.

PS: in FIFA 2005 it's totally useless packing the midfield with a formation like 4-5-1... that's because of FIFA's pin-point-long-passing system, which allows you to get past a midfield of Gattuso's, Vieira's, Makelele's with a simple button tap!

The computer always cheats on the highest difficulties. PES even forces YOUR team to make mistakes which IMO is even worse. Don't play World Class if its too hard.

Simple solution: Use the inibigeditor to extract ai.ini, open cpudiff, and look at the WC (world class) difficulty. In order to make it hard for you, EA tuned down your goalie, all you gotta do is crank it back up to around 60 or 70 and solution is fixed. You can tune some other stuff to your liking as well. If you're playing PS2 then too bad, really... either play Pro or play another game.

i've already outlined this problem a million times... how wc is the perfect difficulty... apart from this one problem... thanks for this solution sky... will give it a shot

Hans

How big is YOUR penis?
PES on the highest difficulty will have a CPU AI that will attemp to break your leg at any possesion on the wing and a referee that`s totally bribed and acted like a blind **** . . .

is there any chance we can have a discussion about fifa 2005 without comparing it and discussing pes?!?! every bloody thread ends up the same!

Why can't a defender simply RUN after a CPU striker who's got pass the defence line and is one on one with the computer????
Is that realistic?
It should be in the back bone of every god damn defender that you go after him!
Or do you see Silvestre or Ferdinand just jogging when Henry's through???

EA just can't make a playable football game anymore...
